I recently stayed at Kingsgate Hotel and found the overall quality to be average.nHowever, there are two key areas that need improvement.nnFirstly, the bathrooms require an upgrade—while using the shower, I nearly slipped. Thankfully, there was a handle for support.nnSecondly, parking was inconvenient. It would be ideal if the hotel could allocate at least one parking space per room to ensure guests don’t have to worry about availability.
3 nights directly opposite lake very tidy rooms with great gardens, staff friendly and helpful good kiwi style breakfast plenty of car parking around building, modern lobby and restaurant and rooms all well appointed, better than some other places ranked higher. Would stay again.
1 night stay, lovely big room very comfortable bed, bathtub. The lovely lady who checked us in thank you. And Daniel the very early morning start we had to Milford Sound 6am such great conversation and warm coffee before check out and sunrise. Unfortunately we arrived late and checked out early so didn't see much. Although I our way back from Milford sound dropped into the town and had a lovely pie at Kens Cafe and some souvenirs.
Rooms were comfortable and surprisingly updated for an older appearing hotel. Breakfast was simple but delicious. The hotel is a bit of walk to downtown area but really does not matter since it a scenic walk with a view of the lake. There are buses that can take you to and from Queenstown if you forgo renting a car.
Amazing hotel at Te Anau. My wife and I sort of short noticed booked here for our Milford Sound trip and it worked out perfectly. In fact we had some issues with our vehicle and the staff quickly accommodated us for a slight shift in booking by one day even though they were practically fully booked. Definitely worth it and the price is more than reasonable. Room was extremely comfortable and tidy. Will rebook when we return for another milford sound trip hopefully when it's raining this time or perhaps a trip to Doubtful Sound.
