Kingsgate Hotel Te Anau

Kingsgate Hotel Te Anau is a cosy place to stay if you are traveling to Milford Sounds. It has a wonderful view of Lake Te Anau, good beds, clean room & Whittaker's chocolate as welcoming token. We stayed for 3d2n for a family of 2 adults & 2 young kids. We had an emergency during the 1st night, whereby my eldest son had a cut on his head when playing hide & seek in room. The receptionist Sandra assisted us to get a nearby oncall GP doctor to treat the cut. Thank you so much to Sandra & Dr. Paula King Te Anau Health Centre for assisting our family.nnOverall, we had an extremely pleasant stay would recommend this hotel to all.

Great hotel in an excellent location right by Lake Te Anau. It’s just a short walk into the town center, which was incredibly convenient. The rooms were clean, cozy, and have great heating for those chilly nights. Friendly service at check-in and plenty of parking on-site. Would definitely recommend it as a comfortable place to stay.

After staying in a rain soaked Dunedin, we decided to head to Te Anau , picked the kingsgate hotel as it was a good price, had free parking and good views.nFriendly staff as we checked in, very helpful and kindly moved us rooms as we couldn’t manage the stairs with our heavy cases.nThe rooms are clean and a good size, old school door locks which is a nice change.nBathroom was clean, plenty of hot water.nZero issues with noise.nPlenty of parking spaces out front and at the back.nClose to the centre of town, you get lovely views walking along the seat front in the morning.nAll in all, a great place to stay.

The location is lovely. Right across the lake and walking distance to the town centre.nnAs far as the hotel goes it's like stepping back in time. The rooms are spacious however,nNo air-conditioning, and the heating takes a while to heat up the room during cool evenings and mornings.nThere's hot drink making facilities but no plates, forks, knives or dessert spoons, making it difficult to eat anything in your room.nNo toaster, or microwave.nIn our room the kettle had not been washed and had orange juice in it.nYou also need to ask for extra towels and they only offer one per person.nnFor the price we paid in March it was very below average compared to all other accommodation we stayed in on the north island.
