This is a strange one. The hotel itself feels quite dated particularly the lifts and lobby, and the use of actual metal room keys, but the rooms have been updated and are pretty good! I’m not a fan of the polyester bed spread and the lack of lamps in the room, but it was good overall and the bed was comfy. The breakfast restaurant was also redone and the buffet was great… but you have to get there before 9am, which is quite early. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. They just need to spruce the rest of the place up.
During my vacation, my child accidentally left her mobile phone at the hotel and only realized it after we had left. I contacted the hotel, and the manager Fiona was incredibly kind and reassuring. She kindly arranged for my phone to be delivered to the airport hotel where I was staying, which truly saved me from a lot of stress.nnI’m deeply grateful for her honesty and care. The hotel itself has a lovely atmosphere, and the service throughout my stay was warm and attentive. This thoughtful help made our trip even more special, and I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone.
We loved this hotel. Excellent location, we walked to the lake, the marina, visited the Bird Sanctuary for the flightless taka-he, we walked to lovely restaurants, ran into schoolchildren, visited the community. The rooms are very well thought out, with closet space, comfortable beds, bathrooms with spacious showers, counter space, and good lighting and temperature control. Unlike the fanciful hotels, this reflected sturdiness and thought of its consumers well. They have a laundry room, so handy for travelers! Their front desk was very helpful, Tish J welcomed us. When the first room she assigned to us smelled of tobacco, she seamlessly provided us a room change, no matter the height of the season.nThe restaurants attached to them were not the best ones in town. Their reception area can be cooler and uncomfortable temperature-wise. Although there is adequate seating for many groups of travelers.nTheir staff including those who clean the rooms are friendly and welcoming, our rooms are so neat when we return.
This hotel is very centrally located in Te Anau. The breakfast is buffet style and has a good variety. We had an issue on check in that they gave our room key to other people as well as us so we walked in to them already in our room. We had to go down and find out who's room it was. They apologised and it was fixed. We had 4 of us staying in the room and every day they kept giving us 2 towels. The phone did not walk so again was our responsibility to go and get them. We were in the older rooms and for a family for 3 nights this was ok. The best part was the location. So close to the lake and the whole town.
Rooms are vastly overpriced and outdated, with limited soundproofing to neighbouring rooms so no sleep ins here. This place is frequented by tourism companies and busses so in room gatherings at night are common and noisy. We stayed at Aden court recently for less than half the price and everything about that experience was better. Ours smelt like someone has recently smoked in it or lit up a packet of incense despite them being no smoking rooms. All of the room windows were open in an effort to get rid of the smell prior to our arrival, which clearly didnt help. Bedside table leg broken and doesnt stand straight. In room jug leaked. Reception staff unengaged and too busy chatting to each other to provide good service. Late checkout not available with no consideration to our circumstances despite it being our honeymoon and offering to pay extra. Even the beside lamps were all unplugged and fridge open upon arrival. When the issues were raised with staff they were unhelpful and stated we should have further interrupted our honeymoon and contacted reception so they could fix the issues, 3 plus issues in one night should not be our responsibility to call them to fix. No refund offered merely blame placed on us for booking short notice and when a refund was requested this was declined. The curtains are pale and dont keep the light out which isn't great if you were wanting a sleep in. Don't recommend at all, merely a money spinner with no care or concern for people staying with them.
