Distinction Luxmore Hotel Te Anau

Very well located; Te Anua is small but this is right in the centre.nThe hotel feels a little dated however the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, there was free parking, and the staff we friendly.nThe breakfast was brilliant; a buffet with lots on offer. Probably the best baked beans we've had at a hotel.nThe TV in the room is very old and has only the basic few channels.nThe bathroom in our room had a sliding pocket door that didn't fully seal shut, so lacked a bit of privacy.

During my vacation, my child accidentally left her mobile phone at the hotel and only realized it after we had left. I contacted the hotel, and the manager Fiona was incredibly kind and reassuring. She kindly arranged for my phone to be delivered to the airport hotel where I was staying, which truly saved me from a lot of stress.nnI’m deeply grateful for her honesty and care. The hotel itself has a lovely atmosphere, and the service throughout my stay was warm and attentive. This thoughtful help made our trip even more special, and I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel is very centrally located in Te Anau. The breakfast is buffet style and has a good variety. We had an issue on check in that they gave our room key to other people as well as us so we walked in to them already in our room. We had to go down and find out who's room it was. They apologised and it was fixed. We had 4 of us staying in the room and every day they kept giving us 2 towels. The phone did not walk so again was our responsibility to go and get them. We were in the older rooms and for a family for 3 nights this was ok. The best part was the location. So close to the lake and the whole town.

5 stars! Stayed in a newly renovated room and had a wonderful stay. The rooms are well thought through, spacious, well laid out with beautiful bathroom and exceptional shower. Comfortable beds, quality pillows and all round brilliant. The staff were attentive and gave us a warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and I had a fantastic stay. Baileys bar is a wonderful bar with a great selection, and the breakfast was great next morning. Had a great stay here.

Beware -- you may be given an unrenovated room even if you booked a renovated one. That's what happened to me. I booked a renovated one because I simply cannot deal with unrenovated bathrooms, but I was given an unrenovated room as this hotel has oversold their inventory during peak season I was traveling during New Year's Eve. In addition, the unrenovated room was directly facing a bar that played a live band past 1am, making it impossible to sleep when I had a 5am wakeup the next day for my Milford Sound morning cruise, and it was also dirty with pieces of wrappers and food residue in the room with broken appliances fan and phone didn't work. Someone had clearly used this room before me. Front desk staff was nice thank you Amy and the manager came in to disinfect surfaces and switch out/fix broken appliances, but apparently they could do nothing else for me. I was moved to the correct room that I booked for my second night, but this completely ruined my trip and New Year's Eve. This is simply unacceptable given how much I paid and the hotel offered no adjustments to account for this experience.
