Distinction Te Anau Hotel & Villas

One of the nicest hotels during our travels thru New Zealand. As noted in many a review, the lake front location is unimaginably beautfiul. The check in staff was helpful and appreciated her hiking recommendations! Xie xie. The garden view room is spacious and comfortable. Self service laundry is available on site. The city is peaceful, ildylic and close to Manapouri for those interested in going to Doubtful Sound. Hope to return to the city and this hotel.

Distinction Te Anau was the recommended hotel by the tour company we explore South Island with. Great location with a wonderful view of the lake. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was one of the villas towards the back. It was beautifully quiet after a busy day getting from Queenstown to Milford Sound then back to Te Anau.nBreakfast buffet was lovely and well stocked with options, some of which I haven’t typically seen at a breakfast buffet before. View of the lake from the dining room was beautiful, even on a windy, rainy morning. Our only wish was that we had a bit more time to enjoy the space, but the day was packed and time specific with our tour.nThe grounds are beautifully kept with a wonderful variety of roses.

Te Anau is a lovely little lakeside town — perfect for an overnight stay before heading into Fiordland.nnDistinction Villas are well located near the lake, with easy access to the town centre, restaurants, and walking tracks. There’s plenty of parking available, and our villa had a convenient space nearby.nnThe villas are slightly dated, but the bathrooms appear recently renovated, which was a nice touch. Service was efficient and staff were friendly throughout our stay.nnBreakfast was included with a good range of options, though flavours could be improved — the noodles were a bit dry, the fried eggs cold, and only pork sausages were available.nnOverall, a comfortable and convenient stay — a good option in Te Anau, and I wouldn’t mind returning.

For an old hotel/resort, it’s not too bad. Def better than motel like places as the have villas, swimming pool, simple spa/jacuzzi, lobby sitting and dining area with piano and some simple games. Breakfast buffet is available, with a good amount of options although can’t say it’s great. Laundry is available. Large front lawn and a nice garden in the back villa area.

We stayed in one of the villas at Distinction Te Anau Hotel & Villas in December, right in the peak tourism season, and had a genuinely excellent experience.nnThe staff were consistently friendly, warm, and accommodating before, during, and even after our stay. They were happy to assist with requests including luggage storage and additional amenities, and their willingness to help continued even after we had checked out. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, which was particularly impressive given how busy the period was. Their spirit of hospitality really stood out and sets a high benchmark for tourism in this part of the world.nnThe buffet breakfast was hearty and well executed, with all the usual selections you would expect from a quality accommodation. The location is also excellent, with easy access to the town centre, the lake, and day trip departures.nnHighly recommended. Kudos to the outstanding staff. Incredible service!
