We are set in attractive grounds directly across the road from Lake Taupo with free car parking & we are the only motel in Taupo with geothermal mineral freshwater hot pools in EVERY room.

The room was dirty and in a state of disrepair. They shouldn't advertise spa pools if they leak and are held together by tape. $197 per night for 2 adults and our 2 kids, worst money I have ever spent. Don't trust the photos online I think they are at least 10 years old.

Absolutely disgusting, if you book off any of the sites you’ll see pictures from 10-15 years ago. This hotel is a bomb site. No smoke alarm-stains on the carpet, peeling kitchen bench top. Cost was $200 for the night got a refund of $100. Don’t be fooled by the online pictures this place is run down big time.

Older motel working hard to provide great service. Bit of a vicious cycle though as Covid takes a big bite out of the tourism dollar which prevents improvements to decor and repairs. Please support our motels, especially ones like Karaka Tree. Oh and they do give milk and generous supply coffees and teas.

It was $105/night for both of us, and it's what we got. Could do with a makeover,  but bed comfortable,  nice spa bath  massive mirror was a turn off and close to main centre. On a budget, I do recommend.

Absolutely horrific. Do not stay here. It's completely run down. I have never had such a bad experience ever in NZ. Website and online photos must be 10 years or more old. It's an absolute con, unsafe and needs to be shut down

This place is run down beyond covid excuses, dirty, stained, totally disgusting and the only reason we didn't demand our money back is the person on the desk was lovely,  you need to repair and clean or you'll never have any customers. Get fixing, you can get furniture from the Op shops in way better condition.

Very very run down and in disrepair. The outside spa area is a danger zone holes in the decking and rotten boards that one could fall through. No sky TV and if you smoke be prepared to take a walk to the sidewalk. On the up side the rooms were about as clean as they could be and the guy who checked us in was very pleasant.

Nice motel in a good area plenty of parking. Not far from Restaurants
