The name "Quality Inn" didn't quite fit the twin studio we rented. We paid 462 for 2 nights, twin studio.The toilet and bathroom floors got molds and algae in between the tiles. Some parts of the rooms are dusty and walls lights got cobwebs on them. Fire alarm is also missing!!We stayed for 2 night and so there was a room service while we were away. They have tucked our beds and kept the dishes that we have washed but I am not sure if vacuuming the floor is included so I'll leave that on them. Location is great though.
Location was good and rooms were standard. Wifi never worked in room. Heather who managed the breakfast buffet was straight up racist and rude.We have been in NZ for 10 years and never faced such blatant racism. Not sure what ticked her off but from the first interaction to last over 2 days she was consistently rude. The male owner was also rude- overall stay was unwelcoming and super uncomfortable. Please do yourself a favour and avoid this place at all costs, just not worth it.Plenty of other stay options nearby. Could rate 0 if there was an option
Me and my girlfriend are travelling the world for 6 months. Spontanously we decided to stay one night in Taupo and found this nice motel very close to the city center. Welcome was very friendly and the motel is clean. At 01:00 in the night a huge party started next door. Because of that we checked out 20min late as we did not catch any sleep. Rob who works at the motel was super unfriendly. He kicked us out of the room yelling at us that we were late. When I told him that we did not sleep anything due to the party next door he accused US of being the ones partying ?! and that he saw us on camera. YES - because we went outside to check what was going on next door! When we tried to explain, he didn’t listen at all. There is cleary something strange going on as there were teenagers walking around outside in the middle of the night and roughly 5-10 of them partying next door, so this must have been on the cameras as well... Rob could have nicely asked us if we were loud but no he was just rude..
We unfortunately picked the wrong time in winter to have a road trip to Auckland and had to stop at Taupo on our way back to Wellington as the rain was horrible the entire day. We were so grateful to walk into the room that already has the heat pump turned on for us. Clean rooms with basic facilities which is great for us to rest after a long drive. Soft comfy beds and far from the main road meant a good night's sleep.
We booked the one bedroom room. Was spacious and adequate. Full sky channels available and good wifi. Friendly welcome on arrival from lovely lady. Would definitely book again when passing through Taupo. Very reasonable rates.Rooms: 4/5
We stayed in a two-bedroom room. One room had a queen size bed, the other has two king single beds with a sliding door which only has a view of the fence. Rooms are spacious enough to move around. The beds are very comfy and warm. They have electric blankets on them, to which the guests have the option of using. There is an air conditioner/heat pump in the main living area, which is open plan to the small kitchenette, pull-out couch, dining table & chairs. The smart TV was actually above and beyond from any other accommodation I've stayed in. It offered sky channels, chrome cast, DVD player, media player play store, you tube. It was great! Best thing ever! The kitchenette had an electric kettle, free tea/coffee/sugar & cookies, mini-bar fridge which had a small bottle of milk and some paddle pop ice blocks in freezer. Not sure whether the paddle pops was left behind by previous guests or part of the service but was certainly a bonus for the kids. It was also fitted out with 2 installed electric hot plates, 2x pots/lids, electric pan, toaster, toast rack, glass mixing bowls, measuring glass jug, serving platter, crockery, cups, glasses, wine glasses, basic cooking utensils, knives, forks, spoons, teaspoon, dish liquid, scrubbing brush and pot scourer. The bathroom ensuite is nicely renovated. It has a hair dryer, electric plug outlets on the wall for use above the vanity. Comes with complimentary soap, body wash, shampoo/conditioner, body lotion and make up remover pads. There is a shower and bath tub with spa jets. Very nice. The rooms are provided with beautiful large bath towels, face cloths, hand towels and a bath mat. These are changed every day which is fantastic! The only downside in our bathroom is the roof needs a clean. Not sure whether it was bugs or signs of mold? But it might pay to look up and give it a clean every now and then. All in all, my family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Love the location. Walking distance to the lakefront and town centre. We will definitely be staying here again and recommending others too!

Place was clean. Great location. Warm inside. Wifi was funny kept cutting off. Bed was uncomfortable. I think breakfast time should be extended.Rooms: 4/5
Nice tidy place with good parking really close to the lake and shops. Pressure in shower was great, beds were comfy but big spa bath wasn't comfy unfortunately. But the towels were thick and heavy and luxurious. Nice selection of coffee and even a little packet of biscuits for supper. Lots of busy people cleaning them up the next day. Would definitely stay again.
