Lake Taupo is close to Tongariro National Park’s mountains and skifields, the magical Waitomo Caves, Rotorua’s thermal sights and Maori cultural attractions, and the art deco seaside city of Napier.

You might just like to settle in and relax locally. Walk beside the lake or along the Waikato River to Huka Falls. Bike to cafes and boutique shops. Drop a line off a fishing boat, kayak around our bay or soak in nearby hot pools. We’ll do all we can to help you get the most from your stay beside Lake Taupo.

Loved this place! Took me back to my kiwi childhood holidays in the best way. The owners of the motel were so friendly and allowed my parents to park the camper in the parking lot. Only stayed a night in room 10 which had great views of the lake but would come back and stay in that room. 30 second walk to the lake, kayaks available, quiet and dark rooms and comfy enough bed.
This is a lovely compact and tidy unit we had a family unit with courtyard and balcony. We loved it! The garden was delightful with nice sheltered courtyard and outdoor table and chairs. The kitchen was roomy. We loved the two toilets and the spa bath upstairs. This was a very functional unit with storage space and well thought out touches. I am super happy and will rebook for next year. The private lake access is a bonus.
We stayed here on 2 different nights within a week,2 different rooms .The place is spotless,immaculately clean and the beds comfy.With an on site laundry,all needs are taken care of.Direct walkway to the lake,right where you want to be.Great service,host very accommodating.Especially loved ‘The Nook’ room,so cosy and great ambiance.R&K Mack
This is a hidden treasure near lake Taupo. This place is so affordable yet has absolutely brilliant staying. The cottage is so big and the furnishings are super cool. There are a lot of utensils and cutlery in the pantry area. You can cook your own food. You will never notice that the cottage has access to the lake but when you walk to the end of the driveway, you will find the magnificent Lake Taupo. The access from the cottages has one of the most clean and beautiful shore of the lake. The owners are very generous and always smiling. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax and spend your holidays in Taupo with unforgettable memories.
My partner and I stayed at Cottage Mews for 3 nights and had a great time. Comfortable, spacious rooms, very clean, great location. Highly recommended
Cottage Mews Motel was amazingly clean, smells nice inside, conveniently close to the lake and has a free laundry! I highly recommend staying at this place.Rooms: 5/5
A little further out of the centre than I would have liked but we had a car so no problem. Somewhat random having an enormous spa bath in the bedroom but it wouldn't fit anywhere else!!Rooms: 4/5
If you are considering staying here as a family and having your kids or just anyone sleep downstairs in the lounge. Don't. The creaking from upstairs is unbearable . I can hear quite literally everything, talking, tossing and turning, snoring even quiet talking. I got one hour of sleep because I couldn't stand the noise. Not to mention you get no privacy as it is literally a lounge room next to a kitchen. But apart from that the service is great! Just please consider fixing the creaking Nearby activities: food Walkability: lake closeby Noteworthy details: boring
We were not dissapointed in room 10. Quiet,clean,spacious and well maintained for its age. Sighted the lake from the upstairs lounge and appreciated the walkway to the lake in a matter of a minute. Can’t wait to stay again.Rooms: 5/5
Nice place to stay. We had a place with 2 floors upstairs was lovely and warm, downstairs quite cold. It's clean and well maintained but a bit dated. A bit too far from town to walk but a very nice lakeside locationRooms: 3/5
