Story

Enjoy city-quality dining in stunning alpine surrounds at Isobel’s Restaurant, a Hanmer Springs restaurant and bar popular with locals and guests alike. The restaurant’s interiors are truly grand, with high studded period ceiling and large windows that look onto the hotel’s immaculately landscaped grounds.

The ambiance is truly delightful: sit by our roaring fire in the winter, or soak up the sun with alfresco dining on the terrace in summer. Either way, a drink from our extensive list of regional wines makes perfect company for a relaxing evening.

Seasonal menus of Pacific cuisine make the most of the best, freshest local produce all year round. Please ask our staff for vegetarian and vegan options.

A lovely stay in a great location. The staff were fantastic. At both our evening meal and our breakfast, the server team were attentive, efficient and friendly. For dinner, the chef also made an appearance and checked with all diners, the food experience was positive which was a great touch. The garden setting and grounds are lovely to walk around and also provides a beautiful view while in the dining hall. Rooms are comfortable and warm. The historical photos of the building and history of The Lodge as it was known, add to the character of the accommodation. Very enjoyable. Thank you HSH.
We were asked what time we were arriving but when we arrived our rooms weren't ready. My suite wasn't ready until 15:30 and my friends room wasn't ready until 16:00. The hotel has apparently been refurbished, but everything looks dated. My suite didn't get cleaned due to lack of staff. They communicated this by slipping a sheet of paper under my door. My suite was very basic. There were glasses, mugs and teaspoons but no knives, forks or plates. I tried ringing reception and my call went to a non-activated voicemail. The reception area was usually unmanned. On the upside The location is fabulous. The rooms were clean. The staff were friendly. My bed was super comfy.
Not bad value for money, welcome drink, full breakfast and room for $211 for 2. As previously stated a room upgrade will make this into a top hotel. 80s /90s decor showing signs of wear but the rooms are nonetheless comfortable, spacious and warm. Staff friendly. Great to see excellent wines as their house wine, Main Divide, and fabulous that it's local. We dined in the restaurant, nice food and very generous portions.
I gave this hotel a 3 star because when we visited the tissue box only had 1 single tissue in it no spear box to replace it . The room was nice and sunny but couldn't use the coffee table as it was way to high when sitting in the chairs there bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a let down I couldn't find coffee and I was told I cant toast my croissant which I already put in the toaster the man working in there tried pulling it out as it was toasting so I was very disappointed the only thing I had was butter on toast could of done with more spreads . Staff were very nice and helpful
Hamner Springs Hotel is a beautiful Spanish style built in the 1930s. The building is in good condition and the room was small but very nice and clean. Staff were brilliant, very friendly and professional. The meal in the restaurant was amazing! So good! I had the steak with salmon, and she had the ravioli pasta both were excellent. Highly recommended as much for the history as an excellent stay. Walkability: Right in the middle of town. Everything is very close by.
Was a bit disappointed by our stay. We were in a garden suite, essentially a small cabin in the garden. It was superficially clean but not really clean. Big dust cobwebs in most corners of the room. And it was the first thing we saw on entering. Pool is a great facility, and in a lovely setting with great views. Large pool and can’t fault it. Food was good, breakfast was nice. A beautiful dinner was somewhat sullied by an unpleasant member of staff. Likewise, the evening reception person also lacked some social skills. Great location, lovely building, good food, just needs to work on the small touches
We were up here for a weekend on a grab one deal to celebrate my husband's birthday and found the place a bit dated but in all fairness it is part of the hotel heritage.Didn't realize there was no lift so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs however on departure we were offered help with this bit it would be so good to see a lift in the future.staff were very friendly and it was good to see gluten free option for my continental breakfast which I was very happy with, the muffin was delicious! Our room was cozy and had everything we needed and the bed was so comfortable, overall we enjoyed our stay here thanks.
Room is big enough 2 adults 1 child king size bed and a pullout lounge. Comfortable enough for a couple of nights. TV is small, but if you are visiting Hanmer Springs to watch tv then probably rethink your holiday options! Dinner in the restaurant was exceptional Well recommended to stay here
Called in for a drink as the restaurant was closed. Had a lovely antipasto with in house cured meat. Delicious. Lovely old world style hotel. Very comfortable and peaceful bar and lounge. Great friendly service. Highly recommended.Service: 4/5
The room we had was spacious, really quiet and warm. Loved the big chairs to sit and read. The beds were comfy just a little softer than I Iike. Big bathroom with bath that was great. The staff were brilliant to deal with in all areas. Dined in the restaurant for breakfast it was basic continental but all that we needed and included in room price. Had dinner in the restaurant and omg it was delicious. The pasta entree was fresh, the chicken main was super succulent with lovely veg and potatoes and the pork was also great and dessert was worth every bit of room we had left. Portion sizes were on point. Would not hesitate to go back.
