Harbourside Motor Lodge

On driving to this place you wonder where you are going but really its a hidden gem. Nestled in at the back of the marina with views out across the boats to the hills in the distance and a great pub only 100 metres away this is a great stop off for a visit to Nelson. You can walk into the city within 15 minutes along the riverbank or if driving around you are quickly out of town.nThe room was excellent, newly carpeted and very tidy with a well presented bed you looked forward to sleeping in. Tea and Coffee facilities, sky TV, fridge and spacious clean bathroom with excellent shower.nContinental breakfast in a nice clean room was very pleasant.nAll in all a surprising place that we would return to without hesitation

Harbourside is located out among the warehouses on the wharf just across the highway from Nelson.nIt’s a 20-25 minute walk to the shops, cafes and restaurants, apart from the nearby Anchor.nIf you’re in the upper floor there’s a nice view of the boats, but the surrounding area is all factories and warehouses.nRooms are a decent size, clean and quiet, though they directly face a road.nThere’s a laundry on site you can use, and a basic breakfast of cereals, toast and tea and coffee is included.

We stayed here the nights before and after a 2 night trip away at Abel Tasman National Park.nThe staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and let us keep valuables in their safe and store luggage with them whilst we were away.nWe were allocated different rooms on each of the nights, a Courtyard Studio at first, and then a Harbourview Studio when we returned. Both were comfortable and spacious with a nice little area for food preparation. In the Harbourview it was particularly nice to have a small balcony where we could relax in the evening overlooking the harbour.nEverywhere is exceptionally clean.nIt is a little way out of the town, however, there is a nice riverside walk which will take you there in 10/15 minutes.nIt was also great to have a continental breakfast included, with a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toasting breads, jams and tea/coffee.

Great place to stay for a good price. We didn't intend to show up as late as we did, and I felt bad that we missed the check in time and had to wake the owner up by calling on the intercom at 10pm to get our room information. She was very kind! Breakfast was wonderful. Loved our harbor view when we woke up. Very close to shopping, restaurants and the beach. Would have stayed longer if we had more time.

Great spot over looking the water. Well appointed room. Good shower. Only downside is that there is no separation from the neighbour's and they can access our deck so we had to close window for security.
