Friendly staff. I enjoyed the Chicken Mushroom dish, the Crispy Kare Kare was a little bland, but cooked well. Ube cake was yum. The table I was sat at was very wobbly and the restaurant seating area is cramped, so next time I would order take-away.
Authentic Filipino cuisine. It reminds me of home and they cooked it the traditional way. Lechon kawali was a bit dry for me but taste wise it was good. Pakbet was the best because it really reminded me of home. Halo-Halo had a good serving and was delicious.
Prawn sinigang here is really good! Just right amount of sourness. I quite like the kawai lechon, too. A bit pity that pork sisig was not available on the day that I came so did not manage to try that. Oh and the ube icream is superb! I’d come back for that ice cream. Definitely!!!!
Gold Ribbon, love these guys. A very warm place with family style Filipino food. I think the place used to be a Subway going off the interior.
I wish I had a lot of space in my tummy so that I could eat all of the nice food they have in store. Another unique taste of Filipino food here in Auckland.
I haven’t eaten here for dinner before but I I ordered a medium sized Ube cake over the phone for pick up the follow night and it was super easy. The cake was delicious and reasonably priced as well. Very accomodating staff. I did notice while I was there, it was close to closing time so it wasn’t busy but quite a few tables still had dishes/food on them so it did make it look a little messy in the restaurant.
Ordered the Ube Cake to do Post and Pre birthday celebrations for my friends and myself. This cake is made fresh so needs to be preordered. It was super yummmm. Is made of coconut cream and this root vegetable called Ube/Yam . You have to try it out.
What we ordered: - $6 Yema cake slice - $6 Ube cake slice - $14 Fiesta halo halo - $8 Pandan shake We also got three ensaymada for $10, we haven't tried them yet though because of the intense sugar crash we're currently recovering from. I have never had halo halo, nor anything ube flavoured, nor pandan, so I have absolutely no idea whether this restaurant makes good food in comparison to other Filipino food. However, I can say that this was all incredible. The halo halo was sweet with so many different elements that I honestly can't begin to name, I think there was some beans and maybe egg custard and pandan jelly but I have absolutely no idea. The cakes were both super good and not too sweet with the layers of fresh whipped cream and soft cake. The ube cake especially was so good, it was super light and fluffy and just incredible. The pandan shake was my personal favourite. I don't know how to describe it but my immediate thoughts were that it kind of tastes like vanilla ice cream and cheese cake cookie crusts? I'm not sure if I'm sticking with that description but the takeaway is that it was all incredible!
Probably the one of the first Filipino restaurants in NZ. Have been coming here for about 10+ years now. Good portions of their servings. Love the variety of Filipino delicacies in store. Their ube cake is a must try! Would be good if they offer a different menu or a special viand every now and then instead of having the same menu for last 10 years. And also an updated menu and pricing on their website. The pricing from how many years ago still gets me.
Had beef kare kare and a slice of ube cake. The kare kare was very good, its under-salted but you're meant to have it with the shrimp paste which perfectly seasons it. But only have a little of the paste with each spoonful because its powerful stuff. The ube cake was delicious of course as many other reviews on here have said. Prices are great, big servings Will be back for some bicol express!
