In 1951, William Douglas Cook and Russell Matthews found a place to create a garden for growing rhododendrons. They found 23 others willing to contribute £50 a year for five years and as a result of this, the 25 generous people became known as the founders, hence the name Founders Cafe.
In 2015 Founders Cafe is run by Karen and Graham Chard. Alongside them they have a group of wonderful staff.
Founders Cafe is open from October 1st through to January 31st, public holidays included (excluding Christmas Day).
