Older building but renovated and kept presentable room was well priced for what we needed, basic but pleasant staff was helpful and freindly. Great place to stay to start the forgotten highway
Clean room,nComfy bedsnGreat locationnThank you for upgrading us to a family unitnThe cleaning staff were so friendly
As the name suggests the rooms have been somewhat forgotten about, being built in the 70s some features are missing such as security screens on windows but air con, pillows and the comfy beds make up for it! Incredible service at the front desk however - would come back
Unfortunately the reviews, in my opinion, are not reflective of the accommodation.nnThe room had a very university dorm room vibe to it probably because of the cinderblock walls. The windows were so old they would vibrate all night as passing transport trucks drove down the main road.nThe television has 4 channels.nThe rooms are so tired and damp basement feeling. And the bathrooms were the worst part really..similar to what you would find in a North American truck stop shower facility. Panel walls, with rolled vinyl flooring the extends about 6 inches up the walls. Yes it's easier for cleaning, but it doesn't make you feel like you're at a motel.nSpeaking of cleaning though, likely because the windows are so ancient, the number of bugs who call the top corners of the bathroom and bedroom home were plentiful. They don't bother me, but anyone who is affraid of spiders would not like it.nnAlthough you can walk to places easily from this hotel, there is nowhere to walk. I'm not entirely sure what this town offers, besides a stopping place between Wellington & Auckland.nIf you are passing through the area on extended travel through New Zealand as my husband & I have been doing for 5 weeks, I would suggest staying in a different town overall.
We arrived late on a cold night and the staff were really accommodating by leaving our room warmed up & open for us. Didn't need to check in. It was clean and nicely presented but small. There was a 2 ring stove top which would've been a bonus but we couldn't boil eggs on it as it wouldn't heat up. Thought the room was a bit expensive in comparison to other rooms we've stayed in recently. However we still had a great stay.
