Fat Sally's Pub and Restaurant

Calamari salad arrived looking good, but nothing like the description on the menu. Covering the calamari with sweet chilli sauce and adding 1 mint leaf to the salad does not make it Thai or Vietnamese influenced. Staff did nothing except say they would advise the chef. I'm pretty sure the chef knows what was sent out.

Had a really enjoyable experience with my husband for my birthday dinner at fat Sally’s . Wanted to take the time to shout out to Lily and Taylah sorry if spelt your names incorrectly but their service was great and the food was delicious. The rest of the team looked busy and awesome too. So Thankyou, for the rare occasion we go out, I’m glad we chose to come to Fat Sally’s, thoroughly enjoyed!

Never had a bad day in Fat Sally's Pub &Restaurant. Food is always superb and in big portions. We always stop by here whenever we visit Oamaru. Staffs are all friendly and approachable.

Wanted a quick meal on a Wednesday evening before moving on. Very few places open and the menu promising. However the Chicken Karaage burger was a thin strip of chicken breast in what can only be described as standard batter - rather than a dusting of flour The chips were good. The slaw was tasteless and the BBQ sauce a mere drop on the bottom half of the bun. The side salad we ordered would have benefitted from at least one piece of tomato. As it was it was mostly salad leaves with a bit of red onion. The curry would be improved by the addition of spices - I appreciate that most customers don't want a vindaloo but this didn't even tingle the taste buds. Don't ask about the glutenous lukewarm rice. Basically the meal felt like one big carb.fest. We didn't have any drinks or starters or desert. We were asked if we enjoyed the meal but I think our faces said it all as the waitress quickly retreated. We didn't ask for a discount other than the one offered before we went in. After all we did eat most of it - except for the batter, the bun and half the chips and half the rice. Hopefully the chef was having a bad day since most people seem to have enjoyed their visit.

At fist I thought the meals were abit heavy in price but gosh when the plates come out the meals were huge and looked amazing. Hot, tasty and fresh only thing I would have loved was more gravy, sauce ect. Great value for money and we were able to take some back to our accommodation. Pub vibes, pub style but still relaxing. Enough seating to allow privacy. Our waiter was awesome none of this check in to often, she only came as needed. We travel and eat often and I really enjoyed it. An Oamaru must try
