"Esquires Cafe offers a variety of delicious coffees, smoothies and shakes. We also bake and cook a delicious selection of muffins, scones, pies and other savoury delicacies in our kitchen each day. Everything in the cabinet is made in - store, prepared and presented each day by our amazing team. Feeling like a hearty cooked breakfast or lunch? It would be our pleasure. Our kitchen is open from 7:30am until 2:30pm Monday to Friday and from 8:30am Saturday and Sunday."

We came in during the morning tea rush as a family of ten. We were greeted politely by Wes and informed of the wait on kitchen food always appreciated!!! We had incredible coffee made by Tania. Then our food was brought out by the friendly Wendy, who thanked us for our patience. The food was out in 15 minutes and made by a single chef named Kim. The food was stunning and the poached eggs were perfect. This was the best experience we have had whilst in Christchurch!! All of the staff went above and beyond and seemed genuinely happy to be there. As someone who works in Hospitality, I know how hard it can be at times.. and understand the pressure Hospo workers have been under lately!! Thank you so much for the best experience!!! As I am writing this, our plates were promptly cleared by another incredibly polite lady
Ordered a wonderful Mince and Cheese pie. Was served with an artistic swirl of cheap tomato sauce and a lettuce leaf for decoration. The pie was microwaved to within an inch of its life and was inedible. For $11 the pie was a clear rip off, and certainly not up to the Merivale standard! To their credit they refunded the $11, hence the one star. If you’re hungry, just don’t. Go to McDonalds the food is better and the presentation is superior.
Great and cake choices. Friendly staff. Can get quite busy week days. Vegetarian options: Had a vegan choc cup cake.
Service was excruciatingly slow and meals came out at all different times. Not everything was available on the menu and portion size was quite small for the price.
I came here to see what it was like and was blown away to find a few different keto options. The cake was really delicious, can highly recommend the keto choco cake, and the coffee was hot, covered in rich delicious crema, and hit the spot. Super friendly and helpful staff and I hear they're going to be making even more keto food. A new fave : Dietary restrictions: Delicious keto food.
Best coffee in Merivale and for kms around. Made exactly as requested and served with a smile. Good pricing and some amazing cabinet food and light meals with vegan and kero options. Well done to the team.
I purchased a coffee & scone to eat in. I sat down and saw a friend who had a tank salad who sat down for a quick catch up, my food and coffee were delivered & we were told my friend could not sit there as she did not have food from the Cafe! What difference does it make? I was sitting there occupying a table regardles. I obviously wanted to keep talking to my friend so had to get my coffee & food in take away containers and leave. There was a family opposite us & the adults had only ordered a coffee & the kids were eating food out of a lunch box not purchased from the cafe who were not asked to leave. I frequent this Cafe every Tuesday after an exercise class & most definitely will not be back!
Customer service of a high standard, a very popular place to relax and watch others rushing about the mall. Food from cabinet good quality and value. Meals on request are a good size and of a high standard. Great place to meet up with others for a coffee, snack and chatFood: 4/5
