Stayed here last minute because there was literally no other accommodation in Taranaki. Definitely the worst and most overpriced hostel I've stayed in. The bunks have just a pillow, and a duvet blanket, which was unwashed with the hairs of other guests on it. The bunks had no guard rails and some were missing ladders. The other guests were loud and antisocial; no one in our party got a full night's rest. Upon check-in they also took a concerning amount of personal information like address, drivers license number and phone number written down in a visitor book which is a huge privacy concern and completely unnecessary. Avoid this place: camping in a tent on the side of the road would have been more comfortable.
Such a warm and welcoming environment! Perfect budget friendly eco home. Hosts couldn't be more accommodating and friendly : I'll be sure to keep in touch and can't wait to stay again x
Booked through Expedia and paid in full online for 10 people . Upon arrival, we were unexpectedly charged almost $300 extra.nnWe had booked a standard dorm that sleeps 10 and were told that if we didn’t pay the additional amount, other people would be placed in the room as well. Very confusing and unprofessional, and it was unclear who was actually at fault.nnWe were also wrongly accused of smoking marijuana when I was vaping outside anyone with basic knowledge can tell the difference.nReception staff stood in the doorway trying to find “evidence,” but couldn’t find anything.nnTo make matters worse, a young boy kept coming into the room and taking photos of our belongings and the room, which felt invasive and completely inappropriate.nnOverall, the experience was uncomfortable and poorly handled. Would not recommend staying here.
Really nice place to stay for a few days.nThe manager is AWESOME, funny and really helpfull.nThe eels may be scary at first but they are very sweet and will love your leftovers.nI met really nice people here.
friendly owners, really good vibes : if youre after the kiwi backpackers experience this is perfect, with the addition of the beautiful greenery and awesome views. we had a great time!
