Basic room, hot shower, a decent kitchen and dining space so worth the cash we paid.nnOnly one minor downside was being able to hear banging sounds on the wall behind our heads and someone’s TV in the evening.nnHost was lovely and gave off good vibes. Kindly explained how to lock the bedroom door.nnGladly recommend for people passing through looking for a bit of a refresh.
Claims “boutique” but is just old.nnUncomfortable bed, cold room with glitchy heater, cold customer service, and the bright colours that attracted us from the photos were just mismatched and cheap.nnIt’s probably a great backpackers but it’s a 2 star motel.
Definitely the best hostel in New Plymouth. Our one month stay at the hostel was simply fantastic! The owner Brett was extremely friendly and helpful which made our stay particularly enjoyable. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The common areas were also super cozy. The location is ideal for exploring the city. I can highly recommend this hostel. If we had more time in New Zealand we would definitely spend some more time here.
Absolutely loved this place...... definitely recommend to thee world!!! Comfortable relaxing, I don't do these kind of stays but glad I did here. Everything u need is close by the staff aka Brent I think lol lovely and clean asf kitchen bathroom toilets the whole place.......thnku duck and drake IL be bk
Ducks & Drakes hit it out of the park! Such a great hostel with an even better vibe. Brett, the owner is an absolute legend and you can tell he loves what he's doing. It mirrors in the homely vibe you encounter the moment you step a foot into Ducks and Drakes, the tidiness around the property as well as the clean rooms, kitchen and bathrooms.nnIt attracts a lot of cool people and the location could not be better either. 1 minute to Pak n Save, 5 minutes to the next bar. Jackpot!!nnBonus: Ducks and Drakes also offers a shuttle service to the Egmont national park and back!!nnAll in all the perfect place to crush a couple nights in New Plymouth.
