Absolutely loved staying here ..nDouble bedroom was very small but that didn't bother us.nBed was so comfortable I'd of been happy to swap it with my one at home lolnSheets and towels lovely and clean .nLoved the feeling of the place and impressed with books and games at hand if you wished to indulge yourself.nToilets nice and cleannKitchen and laundry I didn't use .nI will say there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to the entrance.nLoved the fact theres a bar/restaurant right next door that I was so impressed with.nWould I stay again.... I really enjoyed my stay here. The hostel has a cozy, private home vibe, which I really like. The washing machine is free, the dryer costs only 2 dollars, and everyone gets a towel. That’s such a great perk for backpackers! The lady at reception was so nice and friendly, and one of the hostel staff gave me some really good recommendations for New Plymouth.nnThe only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of one of the male staff who felt the need to comment on my height. I’m neither a giant nor do I need to put up with stupid comments like that! What makes people think they have the right to comment on other people’s bodies or appearances? Your opinion doesn’t matter, and if you have some kind of complex, don’t take it out on others. ;nnDespite that, I would still stay here again.
Ariki Backpackers in New Plymouth offers a mix of charm and practicality. While the lack of renovation gives it character, some may find it a bit dated. Free laundry facilities are a huge plus, and the unbeatable central location makes it a great choice for exploring the city.
Fantastic service and location. I showed up with no booking and got a dorm which wasn't full, this was in September. I met some like minded people who will be forever connected now, even climbed the mangorei track trailhead with said people and it was a great experiance which will be never lost to a memory. Would recommend 100%. Plenty of food options nearby with the sea in view from rooms.
Arrived and was greeted by the most lovely staff, I was in a mixed room and really enjoyed it I found the bed extremely comfortable, shower and toilet in each room. I didn’t use the kitchen but great to know if I needed anything it was there. Was a great comfy environment and I would definitely go back. I did go on a Saturday night so expect some noise as there is a pub down stairs but it wasn’t too bad. Great location.
