The Dunedin School of Medicine is part of the University of Otago Medical School, established in 1875 as the first medical school in New Zealand.
At any time, we host around 900 medical and postgraduate students, and 500 academic, research, and general staff Offering research-based training at Dunedin and Southland Hospitals, we also provide students with rural healthcare experience in country areas around Otago and Southland, as well as experience in urban community settings.
These seven academic departments support our teaching programmes:
