First time here, walked in and found classic designed environment. Pleased with it, until we notice more than 5 flies flying around, which we thought is normal in Summer season.nOrdered D J Complete, waffles with ais cream for kids, fries and a large mocha.nGood thing about the DJ complete: size looks moderate every food come with doubled portion, looks great, look delicious until we started to try them out.nBread was over-toasted, harden too much - sorry if you don't have real teeth. Next we try to spead the bean and burn our mouth as we never expected the extra heat of the bean, also it is dry. Toasted mashed potatoes was nice though. Tomato was over sour, probably not rip yet. Bacon is also over cook, just like you are eating slightly salty jerky.nHowever the fries are awesome, the aoili is also yummy.nThe mocha i would give a five stars with the perfect balance in taste, temperature and presentation.nThe waffles however have some blacked banana, which ruined my kids appetite.
Nice little cafe to eat at. I had the smashed avocado with poached eggs. It was good, but there were some unnecessary spices; some extra salt would have been perfect. The plates are very presentable and we were served quickly. The atmosphere is very pleasant and peaceful. Overall, I'd recommend this place, even for a simple coffee break.
Relaxed yet chic decor, good vibes and attentive staff. I had the poached eggs and smashed avo on toast and sadly, it was overpowered by fanciful, unnecessary spices. Keep it simple! The eggs were excellently poached and even the micro-herbs were OK ... but to dust so many other strong flavours over a classic is detrimental IMO. for $26.50 I want perfection - not cost-compensation. Gotta give it up for the coffee though! Lovingly handled.
Recommend the Eggs Benedict! Classic dish completed perfectly with the Hollandaise sauce being perfect, served with sour dough and a rosti.nnThe service was great and we came exactly at opening time and there were plenty of seats.nnAtmosphere was great with little touches of decorations throughout the place.nnI can see why it is such a popular spot IN Herne Bay!
Stumbled upon this place while staying a few nights in Auckland. Great coffee, great food, great service. My 6 year old said they were the best pancakes he had ever eaten. Would highly recommend.
