My first dining experience here and I gather it has undergone several name changes and management over the years. The food was both a feast for the eyes and also a delight for the taste buds. Great home dishes that were jazzed up with a little of this and a little of that to elevate the taste levels. A fabulous little find and not one you want to shout too loudly about in case you can no longer get a table!
Lovely dog-friendly cafe just off Ponsonby Road. You can take your dog through the front of get to the picturesque courtyard via a gate off the park. Delicious food and good coffee.
Tasty hidden gem away from the busy main streets of ponsonby. Delicious food and amazing coffee. Cant wait to go back, wish it was closer to home
A Really disappointing experience here today:nn1. I advised the waitress I was dairy free and asked whether they could make the eggs Benedict dairy free by removing the hollandaise saucen2. The waitress returned and advised they couldn't do that, so I asked instead for the big breakfast and asked for that dairy free. I asked for ciabatta as the bread and also pointed to the meal on the menu to clarify.n3. My friend and I then waited over 30 minutes for our meals - at no point were we told there was a long wait on food not a problem and appreciate places are busy, but a heads up would have been nice.n4. My meal arrived which was wrong, they'd given me the eggs Benedict. I explained that I couldn't eat it because I am dairy free. They checked and then advised they had put the correct order through as priority.n5. After another 10 min wait they served me the big breakfast and included butter on top!n6. When I later spoke to the manager they did clarify butter is not used in the meal I'm not 100% confident this is the case was put on the top as habit. Especially after the first meal was returned to the kitchen because of dairy, you'd expect them to want to be extra cautious.n7. I had to ask for compensation, this was not offered to me in the first instance. No one checked how our meals were, or checked on our table.nnAll in all I wouldn't return to this cafe.
Honey Café probably should be considered one of my locals. I've been here a few times now.nOn occasions with friends. Other occasions with family.nAnd even on my own.nI've always enjoyed my food and caffeinated beverages at Honey. They've been gobbled up and consumed. Sometimes with alacrity. Other times, with slow deliberation, savouring the company and the experience.nToday, my coffee had a picture of a swan on the top froth. Such skill should never go unnoticed. Not absolute mastery, but not far from it. Still a five star experince.
