Boutique yet interestingly Spanish influenced place, great for sitting around the outside if it wasn’t raining cats and dogs and enjoying some fresh light lunch or afternoon tea with the pleasing view of their gorgeous garden. The food is quite surprising with a strong Spanish touch, we got the recommended tapas tasting and the house specialty paella, the tapas are nice, but I was expecting something a little more vege-cheese oriented, and less fried stuff, but they tasted pretty good nonetheless. The paella, which would be perfect if the bottom was more appropriately charred, is still the best we have had in NZ so far, nicely balanced seasoning with strong hint of saffron, the rice is perfectly cooked to Al dente, the seafood are fresh and properly cooked and goes great with the rice, we found the mayo based sauce a little unnecessary but it’s generally great. The desserts are just alright, the almond tart with sherry is a great dish, but the Creme brûlée is a little too runny and too sweet for our liking. Also, their house made sangrias are a must try, so refreshing!
We went on a Saturday afternoon just after lunch for some nibbles and drinks. It was a bright sunny day so we sat outside and enjoyed the view around us. The staff were lovely. We had a traditional sangria each, and the tasting platter; which was shared between two. Would go back again.Recommended dishesTapas Tasting Platter
Nice quality food, but the service needs improvement. When the simplest request to have the menu to order something extra is forgotten when the restaurant was half empty, then it is pricey for what it offers
Absolutely loved my meal at the curators house. My partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to celebrate with us. We shared the paella for 2 and it was beautiful. Barely had any room for dessert but we split the almond tart which was to die for. Thank you to the whole team for giving us a lovely evening!

We don't live in Christchurch so this is always a place we go on holidays. In every trip religiously went to this place. The Paella was the reason. Use to be superb and we recommended to many people every time. This time we invited a friend and ..this time was disappointed. Was not bad but not definitely not as it used to be. The taste was salty...and not right. The amount of seafood was okish but less than other times. For the price did not make any sense. Also they didn't warn us that for tree people will be extra charge. It was super expensive and disappointing. There was another place offering paella for half price, we knew it, but the taste make us always come back to this place... Unfortunately not anymore.
We had our wedding here recently. Alba was amazing through the whole process. She made everything so easy for us and took care of every detail. The location was stunning, the food was amazing and everything ran seamlessly. Thank you Alba for everything, we couldn’t be happier. Would highly recommend to anyone planning a small wedding.Food: 5/5
What could be better on a summers day than to sit under an umbrella, listening to a Tui, eating a delicious array of Tapas only $35 for the tasting selection for 2 with a glass of Two Paddocks Pinot Noir Rose 8-.Food: 5/5
