Nestled in the sand hills of South Kaipara Head our Horse Inspired Learning Centre stands close to Wood Hill Forest, Lake Kereta, Muriwai Beach and only an hour from Auckland city centre.

Story

Horse Inspired Learning is an emerging field in which horses are used as a tool for emotional growth and learning. It is experiential in nature in that individuals learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with horses and then discussing feelings, behaviors and patterns. This approach has been compared to rope courses and other adventure-based activities. EAL has the added advantage of utilizing horses, dynamic and powerful living beings.Horses have an amazing power to inspire. They offer unconditional friendship, experience a wide range of feelings, and provide immediate, honest, observable feedback in response to our interactions with them. Horses are sensitive to nonverbal stimulus, which makes them astute therapeutic guides. They are social beings that bring us insight into group dynamics and our individual roles we play in our daily lives.

Quality people and programs and a philosophy of caring about and providing a better deal for horses and people who want to make positive change is what Dune Lakes Lodge is all about. All of this taking place in the beautiful hills and lakes of South Head, only slightly more than an hour from Auckland. AND only an hour's ride to a remote portion of the beach, and you are overlooking the Tasman Sea. It was so heartening for me, I became a staff member!
I had chronic back pain for a long time. Rosemary arranged for me to have a session with her friend who did relaxation meditation. It was the best thing I have ever done, I no longer have severe pain and life is normal again. Beautiful people and beautiful serene surrounding. Highly recommended.
Booked through Airbnb on the day of arrival 4hrs prior. Received no check in information and no one was around to check us in. Found some friends ? of the host who said there was no accommodation and that the host would refund us. 4 days later we have received no communication from the host so have had to go through the Airbnb resolution centre.
Magnificent location, accommodation provided, peaceful place to unwind and regroup your thoughts, so close to the beach, and a short walk to the lake with an abundance of wildlife and flora, simply breathe taking!
