My husband used to go to Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve when he was young. My father-in-law always took him there for a walk or swim on weekends.nnHaving so much precious memories at Blockhouse Bay Beach, my husband took me there on 24/9/2023. It was winter time at that time so it was a bit chilly. Moreover, the weather was not so good and it had been raining for the whole morning.nnAnyway, we still enjoyed our romantic walk there and my husband shared with me his fond childhood memories with all his 6 siblings. With him being the eldest, he had to take care of his 6 younger brothers and sister whenever they went to the beach.nnWe will go there again at Easter and hopefully on a sunny day!
Lovely picnic spot with a small beach and a kids' playground. Beautiful greenery with grasses. You can hear bird's natural creeping sounds. Have public toilets and outside shower spots. Parking spots are not sufficient in busy days. You may do some fishing in this place.
There is a walk to the beach via the reserve which is quite moderate. It's a beautiful beach and lot of place to have a picnic.nnThere is a limited parking and a playing ground for the kids. Toilets are available which are open in the evening also.nnThe water is not good for swimming and loads of shells are lying around.nnWhen you enter the reserve it splits to the Manukau Coastal Walkway for walking and hiking trails.
Good for small vehicles to park, family picnic, toilet available. Dog walk. Could be kayaking.
I'm a resident of Blockhouse Bay, but I'm not being biased, when I say it is an awesome place. Nice sized parking areas, one being on the beach, the other approx 50 metres away, with beautiful views of Manakau Harbour and The Heads, featuring a scenic walk around the bay. Well worth the visit.
