A wonderful natural retreat right in the Auckland suburbs, easily accessible by public transport. Despite not having any butterflies in winter, the ambience and tranquility of the garden is absolutely breathtaking. From the various greens and links of the plants to the chirping of birds, the butterfly house is a perfect place for relaxing in beautiful Mother Nature. Better still, the area is well maintained by the cheerful and friendly staff who are absolutely delightful ti chat with. It won't be an exaggeration to say that this garden is like a slice of NZ nature at its best. Definitely worth the $5 entrance fee!n.
$3 entry and a good couple of parking soaces if you wish to hire the venue. The garden itself was nice. Lots of benches and seating if you wish to rest or have some time of reflection? There is a native tree loop track, and other tracks with different trees and plants from different countries. Loved the flowers here. As for the butterflies, none spotted when I was there.
Its a beautiful garden with pathways and trees, shrubs, flowers and peace. Which includes a wood. It only costs $5???? I was amazed by that.nThe butterfly house was my favourite part. I stood in awe watching Monarchs flying, feeding, mating . They danced around my head and hands. The colours of them and flowering shrubs was wondering.nI will be going again when I next go to Auckland
So many monarchs! We visited at the end of April, a time when, the monarchs are coming to an end but they were still plentiful in the big enclosure. We wandered around entranced with the abundance Unfortunately the remainder of the garden seemed to be on a bit of a lull, but that's nature for you!
This place has a lovely atmosphere, but really needs some updating and TLC. The butterfly house in particular has definitely seen better days!nOverall we had an enjoyable visit.
