BKs Egmont Motor Lodge, New Plymouth Motel

5 out of 5 experience! My family stayed here for about a week while waiting for our new home. The room we stayed in was very roomy, clean, had a great kitchenette and big bathroom. The motel itself is nice & quiet. The location is great super handy to the city. The service was great the owner is very nice to deal with & very accommodating. I highly recommended!

Bit dated but well set up. Easy access and parking by entrance door. Please get absorbent towels and little things like dessert spoons NOT serving spoons matter in cutlery. The spa shower is unsafe for older people as no grip rails to get in and out if shower. Be a bit more generous with tea and coffee and sugar sachets please.

Last minute booking for a trip to see the Festival of Lights, only a 10 minute walk from the park. Clean and spacious room with all the necessary amenities. Lady at the front desk was helpful.

We checked in on 25/12/24 and we had a very bad surprise waiting for us on our special day. We got the wrong the accommodation. As soon as I found this I texted on the contact given on website I also called and left a voicemail on the same day. I did not have any other choice other than staying in the given room.nnThe next day early morning before 9am I went to see the receptionist and she blamed the situation that it was the fault of the website and booking.com as according to the motel's receptionist it was not possible to book a spa bath apartment room with 4 people and it is only available for three people. I explained to her that this was not my fault. Receptionist was not cooperative and rude.nnI asked her if she checked our booking confirmation letter before or after printing, she replied no, if she would have checked this at the beginning this problem would have never occured. This was all her negligence. Receptionist offered to refund the price difference on the rooms. Till the date i have not heard or received anything.nnPost checking out I received a call from the receptionist again to inform me that they found a pink mark on the single bed, I felt a bit threatened as the receptionist sqid if the pink stain does not go she will have to charge me the cost.nnInitially I thought it might be from the bubble water kids blowing bubblethat my son spilled but when I went to check myself it was in two single beds and we did not use the other single bed at all, we only swapped the blankets of the single beds as it was wet. The pink stain was hardly visible. We did not have anything pink spilled on the bed, again I don't know where it came from.. I tried to wash it if it was the bubble but it was not. So am I supposed to stripped the beds and check if there was anything as soon as I check in?? Who would do that, you are there to relax not to play a detective role???nnThis is the 1st time i am hearing about this type of trouble. I dnt know where the pink thing came from, either the receptionist or the cleaner will be able to answer as I am sure It was not from us.nnDue to have a wrong accommodation we had to face lots of trouble. My kids were very upset seeing the ordinary room. They kept on asking about the spa tub. Instead of apologizing the receptionist was arguing with us.nnThis was the most unpleasant stay of our life that even on a Christmas Day. We went there to have good time and to relax instead it was stressful whole time.

Stayed here before as it's walking distance to Pukekura Park.We did have trouble with water in the fridge.lt had defrosted,and also the stove element wouldn't turn off.The manager came and fixed it.Abit scary tho.
