I would of given a 5 star rating, however there's no restaurant on site and there was construction going on next door. Service was excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. Bathroom had a nice shower and clean toilet. Microwave, coffee maker, fridge and safe were all working and clean. Security on site after hours. Plenty of parking for a charge of $22 per day. The parking charge is Not included in the nightly fee for the room. Book hotel in advance for a better price. Rooms: Clean comfortable rooms. Nice views of the city. Nice balcony. Cox cable with HBO. Walkability: Excellent downtown location. A few blocks from little Italy. A few blocks from the cruise port and a few miles to the airport.
For the class of hotel this is, we had a very good experience. The room was clean and quite large. My family of four was very comfortable here. We had a balcony with doors that opened up. There’s a lot of construction in the neighborhood so the view wasn’t great but it was still nice to get fresh air into the room. The hotel is close to Little Italy and good restaurants. It has a pool and hot tub. And the staff was excellent, responding to service requests promptly and helpfully. For Comic Con, they gave us a complimentary grab and go breakfast each day. We would definitely stay here again.
The Best Western is an okay place to stay. Positive is it's great location in the heart of San Diego with its large parking facility, although your paying extra for that service. The hosts are friendly and helpful with every question or need. The rooms themselves are quite expensive and unfortunately quite dark. Our room on the eleventh floor was clean but had a weird smell. The air conditioning system was unfortunately not able to get the temperatures right - it cooled down further although we put a higher number in the display and set the ventilation system on heat. Disappointing again was the breakfast service. The products offered were not to our taste. In summary it is a clean hotel in a great location. In my opinion the rooms are fine but overpriced. Overall 3,5/5 stars.
Staff is incredibly friendly and genuine; they want you to have a great time staying in The Best Western and it really shows. Each morning I stayed here, Heracío please forgive me if I am misspelling and groundskeeper Dan would greet me with a friendly hello and we’d talk about the day ahead. They’d both wish me well and suggest great places to visit and eat. If you enjoy being close to some of San Diego’s finest attractions, the downtown feel of a vibrant city, the simplicity and ease of quality customer service, The Best Western should be a top candidate to consider! Thank you all again!
Locations is ok. Little Italy super close, many other spots walkable within 20min max. Interior a bit aged. Pool and gym available but also aged and a bit small. Some grab and go breakfast is included, basically a bag of kind cheap supermarket products, but at least something. Service nice and friendly. Room cleaning just upon request 8/2022. Some rooms with bay view.
The outdoor pool is in direct view of many rooms, so swimming is awkward. The desk claims to have the rooms cleaned every 3rd day, but we stayed 5 nights and were NEVER cleaned. Don’t worry though, they will let you change your own trash cans whenever you want - what a pleasure. Parking is expensive $22/night and very inconvenient. The only access to the parking garage is the GROUND LEVEL entry and spaces are very tight. So if you park on the 3rd floor, your walking up and down 3 flights everyday to get your car because there’s no elevators in the parking structure. The location is good for walking around downtown and they have an on-site security guard - which is true for all other hotels of comparable pricing in the area. Go somewhere else.
Great Location the Bay id 2 Blocks away and Public Transportation is closefor a Clean,Basic Hotel and if booked early, a good Value. San Diego can be Pricey if Big Events are going on The included Breakfast comes in a Bag, and there is no Daily Housekeeping due to Staffing Shortages. There is Wonderful Italian Cafe across thd Street called Pimantis @ the Corner of Ash and India. The food is outstanding and Prices are reasonable compared to other places in Little Italy and Old Town. Parking in the attached Garage is Pricey. Probably all in all, the Best place to stay in Downtown if you get a Deal!
The Best Western Plus Bayside Inn is an excellent value if you are looking for an urban hotel within easy walking distance to the bay, Embarcadero, transit station, and neighborhoods like Little Italy. We stayed here for 4 nights in December and everything far exceeded our expectations. The view of the bay from our 14th floor balcony was beautiful, and the street noise which should be expected from the location was not bad and did not interfere with sleep. Comfortable bed, very clean and spacious room, and could not have picked a better location for the access we wanted on this trip. A couple notes to consider - this hotel does not have an airport shuttle, but it was only a $12 Uber ride to the airport, and we had no issue getting a ride at 6:00am on a weekday. The staff also offered to call a taxi as an option as well. We did not have breakfast but they provide multiple grab and go breakfast options to choose from. The hotel is directly across the street from a Starbucks, and with the room's microwave and fridge, it is easy to keep and make food in the room. It was about a 15 minute walk to a Ralph's grocery store and only a few minutes to walk to many Little Italy markets on nearby India street. If you are here on a Saturday morning it is an easy walk to the farmer's market in Little Italy. We also walked to the USS Midway and Seaport Village from here. We already have another trip booked here in a few months because it really does stand out to me as an exceptional value compared to similar hotels in the city. Every staff member we talked to was professional, helpful, and consistently provided excellent customer service.
If you plan to stay here, ask for a west facing room. On the east side of the building there is some major construction going on right across the street. They were just getting to the foundations so i'm guessing this problem is going to continue for at least a year from when i'm writing this review. The construction site has a generator that runs consistently.....all through the night. The hotel should make more of an effort to sound proof the rooms. The sliding doors to the non-existent balcony are locked by a hole that is drilled into the frame with a metal stick that goes in it. They really should install sound proof doors to that balcony. You'll also get to hear the wonderful sounds of trash pickup etc. Apart from that the location is very good. You're walking distance to pretty much everything. The parking lot is a little awkward accessing from the street on foot, but thats not a big deal. The breakfast is a nice touch to-go bags. My one criticism about that is that one of the items needs to be microwaved microwaves are in the rooms with the instructions to wrap it in a paper towel. The only thing is there was no paper towel or napkins in the bag or room. This wasn't a one off as we were there for a couple of nights and it was the same both days and for multiple bags. But in the whole scheme of things, not a big deal. The noise is what cost this hotel 2 stars in this review.
We loved staying at the Best Western Bayside Inn, San Diego. We found the hotel clean, staff friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The location of hotel is superb, only a few minutes walk to seafront. We felt very comfortable in the area. We enjoyed Balboa, La Jolla, Midway, Oldtown, Cabrillo and much more, getting around on the buses and trams. We really enjoyed our 9 nights in the city and would love to return.
