Great bar with loads of craft beers on tap that regularly change. Also great service, warm and friendly staff, and always helpful when trying to choose a drink. They have a great selection of local brews as well, which is great to see. Looking forward to my next trip back to Queenstown, to come back here! Also dog-friendly too. Warm fire going and lovely atmosphere, with good food options too. Also has a pub quiz night, love a good quiz!
Tuesday is always a bit tricky in Queenstown, staff still in short supply but you wouldn't know it from the great service we got last night from Beech Tree. We arrived just prior to kitchen closure at 9:30pm and within 20min we were eating great food. The ribs were excellent, tasty and crisp accompanied by onion rings and chips, fantastic! The plate for 2 with spicy chicken wings and ribs also excellent. Finally wife raved about her burger. Last but not the least, 23 craft beers on tap. Highly recommend this joint.
I always come here with friends to play games, drink and eat. This place has a great vibe anytime during the day. They’ve got a couple vegan options too which is great! Also a great spot to meet all the local dogs as you can bring them into the bar.
Great atmosphere and dog friendly. The upstairs beer garden is easy to locate and inviting with a large selection of beers on tap. I ordered a plate of sauced wings in addition to a pint of Chris NZ Hazy IPA. The buffalo wings were adequately sauced with the right amount of flavour
Fantastic choice of beer and wings. Nice and friendly stuff. The food was delicious. If you love craft beer, they have a beer tasting panel with 4 different beers of choice.
Awesome beer selection more than you can taste in 1 sitting... Awesome wings I had 2 of the 3 types and they were both amazing.
The beer list was excellent. Although there were not many people there and it seemed to lack a bit of a vibe. Insane that it was nice that I didn't have to wait a long time to get a beer. The stuff for pretty good and offered advice on the BS that I was choosing.
A great place - if you like beer. The beech tree's beer menu is extensive, and I think it would be great. We, however, are not beer drinkers. Their flavoured cider jars were just their apple cider with a bit of syrup in the bottom and we could barely taste the difference luckily it was pretty much the same price as the regular cider would have been. Their mango & lime cider was all out, which felt unusual given the bar was just hitting its peak when I tried to order it. The space was a little cramped, and quite hot. There was also a leaky ceiling addressed only with a bucket on the floor collecting the drip, right in the main thoroughfare given the bar area is filled with patrons in line. There were only two bathrooms not enough for the size of the establishment, and were not well-stocked with hand towels. This was an especially annoying problem as most of the food at the beech tree is wings and ribs covered in sticky sauces. We ordered the wings and ribs platter for two. This dish requires you to choose 2 sauces or dry rubs for wings, which is not made particularly clear on the menu. It would be much better to list all the options with that menu item. Instead, when ordering I had to frantically scan the menu before finding the list paired with the basic wings. There is no indication of how hot the wings are. I'm ok with spice, but these were a lot, and I had no clue until the wings were in my mouth. They are covered in a sticky, spicy sauce and with only a small supply of napkins at the table, and the poorly-stocked bathrooms, I suffered. They were however, quite tasty. The ribs and onion rings were a standout on the platter, and the wings probably would have been ok if we had the knowledge to order a dry-rub rather than the sauced wings. I wouldn't come here expecting more than an average pub feed, but if you like beer, and you're mainly coming for a drink, you'd probably have a much better experience than me.
Cool place in Queenstown with vegan options. Table was super sticky which was a bit uncomfortable. Vegan Mac and cheese was great. Polenta sticks didn't taste like much and didn't come with enough sauce. Cauliflower wings were delicious!
Great variaty of craft beers, some weeks they have specials as Dark nigh just stouts, Quiz and Drag Bingo nights. Good size and tasty food, I personally like the marrocan chicken wings, super spicy but you want more, falafel is also super tasty and filling.
