We serve a population of almost half a million people across central Auckland, as well as providing some services for the Northern region (such as adult cancer treatment) and services for the whole of New Zealand (including organ transplants). Our services are not just limited to the hospital setting, but include the provision or funding of many services within our community that support the overall health of our population – these include community mental health services, community lab tests and dental health.

Auckland District Health Board (also referred to as Auckland DHB) provides services at two main hospital sites – Auckland City Hospital, with its far reaching views across the Waitemata Harbour, and Greenlane Clinical Centre nestled in the shadow of One Tree Hill in Cornwall Park. Our sites have approximately one million patient contacts each year.

Auckland DHB is home to New Zealand’s largest clinical research facility and it is the largest trainer of doctors in the country.

Big and very efficient staff. Customer service and care for people strongly manifested. Kudos to all health workers and the Government for keeping your commitment to the community to have a safe and available healthcare for free to every kiwi. It was our first time to visit this place, our anxiety has turned to gratification and calmness. Grateful kudos New Zealand
Look, rumours about racist staff are all true. But not even the point in my case. Had my baby here and honestly, do not recommend doing it here. Avoid head nurse Angela Harvey , aka Nurse Ratchet from hell. You would be better off having a home delivery or even somewhere out in a barn somewhere - Will be safer for you.
My husband had appendix surgery, the doctor keep telling us they have many emergency, those people need immediate attention than us, we were fine with it. My husband was in pain and keep waiting for 3 days for the surgery. He been to the theatre 2 times and sent back to waiting room because other people were more dangerous than him. However, surgery done, but after a week he got infected. We came back and waited for days to put a drainage into the appendix side. Few days later the drainage was leaked so we came back to get it check , we were waiting for hours no doctor want to see him. Now we back again because of high fever. I am so disappointed about this situation! Don’t think the medical team professional enough to take care of patients. The way they talk to patients every time the same, Just like copy and paste or memorising , the way they trained just like a robot. We don’t even know who was our surgical surgeon at all. Every times different doctors.
We have been waiting since 8pm and still no doctor has come to visit us. More than 5 hours. My wife is in pain with frozen shoulder and just has been given only Panadol. Worst service and whenever I go to enquire at reception, they send me back with no response about to see the Doc. Really frustrating and disappointing experience at this place. Very poor and useless service here. Patient can die. No meaning of Emergency department. They should shut it. Worst experience. Zero starts if any provisions.
Frontline staff doing the best they can with limited resourcing. Most are warm and friendly in trying circumstances. Some things I've noticed may not be done to the book as it were as we continue lose valuable health staff to Australia and replace them with new people who are still getting up to speed. Public parking is limited. Drop off and pick up spaces often full.
The staff at Auckland City Hospital went out of their way to take care of me. I was very impressed with their level of care, attention to detail, transparency and kindness Nurses and Doctors. Volunteers even came around to check on people and provide extra support and care. Despite having to go in there in the first place, I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
The whole family received amazing care from the staff in ward 82 ICU. They showed kindness and treated my daughter with dignity to the end. The made a heartbreaking time so much easier to cope with and we will always be grateful.
While it's never a good day to visit a hospital, the staff here makes your visit a little easier. Due to the long weekend we had to wait a bit before we were seen which is understandable. You will need to pay for parking too, they've got lifts for upper floors in the parking lot. There are food and coffee options on the ground floor plus more shops outside if you don't mind walking a bit.
I was admitted in ward 38 for my heart procedure a week ago. The whole team of nurses, staff and doctors treated me like a VVIP . I am a common citizen of New Zealand and I am proud of my country due to excellent health facilities as compared to other countries. Thank you God Zone.
Wish I could give this hospital 0 stars. I'm absolutely appalled at the level of service I was provided at the Emergency Department. I arrived on Sunday 25th Feb at 4pm. I left at 12 pm with no Dr to be seen. Left with excruciating pain. I've lost all hope in the Health Care system.
