Bankstown YMCA offers activities and programs for family and community including gymnastics, childcare and vacation care, school PE, sport and recreation.

Story

The Y is vibrant self-funding, not-for-profit charity delivering contemporary programs focused on family, healthy living, developing young people and those less fortunate. The Y’s impact on many of today’s biggest challenges is significant, with its diverse programs and services generating more than four million visits every year across 110-plus locations in more than 40 NSW communities.

The role of the Y in building strong people, strong families and strong communities has never been more important. We are one of the few not-for-profit organisations tackling today’s social diseases, associated with sedentary lifestyles, mental health and disconnection.

Great place for all ages! I have 3 kids joined YMCA over the past 6yrs, I just hope the ‘young’ teachers would get more training to be more discipline so that little ones can improve faster. Friendly but firm to make progress :- Keep up the good work to all!
It was actually fun to stay here. I'm a young man. You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal. You can do whatever you feel. Also no one has ever heard this joke before, or they were just being polite.
FIRSTLY I WANT TO SAY I NEVER WRITE BAD REVIEWS! But after months of this ridiculousness I’m writing one! This year I was looking for a gymnastics class to put my 6 year old daughter in. She was very excited to join. Day one we walked in to sign my daughter up and the receptionist lady was extremely rude, and had terrible customer service skills. I tried to be extra nice assuming she was having a bad day. but no every time we went into the center and she was at the receptionist desk I would dreed talking or even asking her a question! won’t name, names! CLASS ONE! We walked in waited patiently for her class to be called up. The classes are way over numbered compared to staff, and the staff love to chat more than Focus on the children and they have no discipline or structure Within the classes. The kids run a muck and then others follow!! also one rule for some children and other rules for the others The class went for an hour.. yet there is a water break every 10 minutes.. kids really only get about 10-15 minutes on equipment.. definitely will not be attending this facility again! Waste of money unless your child already has some sort of talent! Saddest part my daughter doesn’t know any better and wants to keep going. But me as her mothers that knows what’s best. I will not waste another cent in this place!
Unorganised classes. Horrible first experience and won’t be back. I got charged for a trial for both my kids for the kiddie gym and there was nothing for my 1 yr old to do but I still got charged bc I thought there was a class for her. Also the pungent odour that hits you in the face when you first walk in is shameful. Aren’t you guys embarrassed? It smells like dirty rotten stinky feet
The place has so much to offer. Drop in and talk to the staff. There will be something foe you to do. We ran a seminar and had a great time with each other Thank you Master Paul Mitchell United Taekwondo
I remember shaking Goff's hand as a young boy when this joint opened, was a big deal in the 70's, It was a great place to hang out & meet up with the local ratbags & run amok, had a good line-up of pinny's to waste your pocket money on & the full sized tramps were a blast when lined up together 5 in a row so many broken wrists, dislocated collar bones ! oh & indoor soccer was huge back then. That was when the Gilligan family ran this place & you could get away with anything.
I know they say leave the past behind us but I will never forget the time they always use to get me into trouble for no in particular reason when I was a little girl 13 years ago. I remember sitting in the corner for literally 3 long hours, then later a boy was being naughty and they said to the boy 'you are making Sara in trouble even more'. I told them 'what has that boy getting into trouble got to do with me'? and mind you after sitting in that corner for that long was annoying but I stayed silent and yet they wanted to make up a stupid excuse just to get me into more trouble there logic is fked up. I would NEVER take my kids there. That place is horrible and I have nightmares from that place and because I was a good girl who was sensitive and now I am still a good girl who is even more sensitive because of the way they treated me. It wasn't normal.
