Really nice stay. It is a big cabin lodge house. It is 24 hour amenity access which is a huge perk and it's spacious, quite,and clean. Many people here don't stay long but you may be able to chat to some people and make a friend. Staff are helpful and nice. Also there is free parking, laundry, pool table, TV cinema lounge and easy view and access to the lake.  One thing is they unfortunately don't have social events but probably soon they will.  Note: it's a slightly longer walk to the center where the bars and restaurants are than other hostels 15min. And the YHA was bought by Haka so the name has changed and construction is underway to make more rooms.

Hands-down the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Easy check-in process, very clean, sturdy and comfortable beds each with their own privacy blackout curtain, central location, huge kitchen, great bathrooms. Would love to stay there again. And I can't say the same about other hostels we've recently stayed at in NZ.Rooms: 5/5

A very solid hostel with lots of ammenities and a beautiful location right by the lake.  The hostel has good common facilities. The kitchen is spacious and has many options for cooking. There is even a free coffee / tea machine. The common area has many games to play and also a pool table to use for free. There is a TV room to watch movies and shows. The toilet and shower facilities were also top notch. Large, clean and well maintained.  The 8 bed room was also good. Curtains for your bed, an exstensive charging station at each bed offering USB, USB-C and normal charging ports.  The location is also right by the lake, meaning you can go for a swim quite easily or enjoy the view of the lake and the mountain scenery. Its also a few minutes walk to town.  Overal a pleasant hostel to stay in with lots of ammenities and a nice location. A good recommendation for anyone looking for a hostel to stay in Queenstown.  Rooms: Curtains for your bed, an exstensive charging station at each bed offering USB, USB-C and normal charging ports.  Walkability: Much of the town is within a few minute walking distance  Food & drinks: There is a free tea and coffee machine in the kitchen. Kitchen is large and offers everything you need to cook a good meal

Booked a room with private facilities many months ago. 3 weeks before my stay they send me a message they are undergoing maintenance work and they need to chance my room to a room with shared facilities. Now it is impossible to get anything cheap in Queenstown with only 3 weeks notice. The hotel don’t Care and only offers washing powder and free linens as an apologize.

This hostel boasts an incredibly central location, with close proximity to everything you'd need. It offers a wide variety of rooms and a spacious kitchen. However, it falls short in terms of cleanliness and might not be the ideal choice for couples. The service leaves something to be desired. Overall, it's a suitable option for budget-conscious travelers looking for affordable accommodation in Doramas.

Awesome place! Best hostel in NZ! Massive kitchen, great toilets and showers. Clean rooms with power for every bed. Washing and drying room. Movie room. Best of all, the staff make it feel like home!Rooms: 5/5

We got an ensuite room. Rooms are not that clean. Towels could have stains in them. No hooks in the attached toilet. The shower stall doesn't prevent water from getting out well.Rooms: 2/5

Best location! Just 10-15mins walk from central city and also inter bus stop. Very convenient and beautiful view. Lake front. Room is clean and cozy. Kitchen space is big and comfortable. Staffs are very talkative and kind. You can talk to guests from many countries. It makes your trip more enjoyable! Spending time together and sharing your experiences. Not only young people but also seniors are there. I’m sure you can have good conversations and time at YHA Queenstown. If you want to visit Garden and many activities, just ask reception, they help to book! Enjoy your stay!!

We recently used YHA Queenstown Lakefront Backpackers for our university group trip. Our flight was cancelled then delayed but they were very accomodating and super easy to communicate with. We easily changed our plans around after our flight was cancelled and they were very flexible and kind. We would definitely use YHA Queenstown Lakefront Backpackers again and would recommend them to other groups.

The location is beautiful.  Unfortunately, they advertise this place as being accessible and it is not.  The lift was not working and there were no plans to get it fixed.  I was put on the 3rd floor the first night and was moved to the first floor accessible room for the other two nights.  Unfortunately that room is right off the noisy kitchen and the only bathroom is filthy.  In the first room, there was FREEZING cold air coming out of the vent.  Maintenance came and had a look and agreed that it was blowing cold air, but they didn't turn it off.  They said they had no space heaters.  I couldn't sleep because my room was so cold.  The worst part is that there was NO water at all for 6 hours.  This meant that the toilets were completely clogged with waste.  They didn't even bring in bottles of drinking water so people could brush their teeth or take medications.  I brought this up with the front desk and they didn't care.  The kitchen is not terribly clean.  For the price, you can find something much better in Queenstown.
