Handmade noodles are sold here and they are actually well made! The thick, signature noodles were quite nice as long as you made sure they were dipped in/submerged in the sauce/soup. If not, they were quite dry and sticky but we were warned about that. The other fried noodles were pretty good but not particularly better than other noodle places I have previously tried. The serving sizes were pretty large. Service was decent but just be aware that water is self serve and it’s a bit difficult to get when the restaurant is busy and you’re sitting in the opposite corner just because it is quite a cramped space. Not a bad place, and it is nice that the noodles are handmade!
It was an interesting experience dinning here. We ordered 3 Signature Xi'an dishes Biang Biang Noodle, Cold Noodle, Pull Pork Burger and Vegetarian Dumplings. My wife took some time to order because of her dietary requirements, and the staff taking her order was patient enough to attend to her needs. It was also nice that we can order the level of spiciness of the dishes. I felt it was a bit of wait before our orders get to the table. The portions suits us as we are not big eaters. The cold noodle is as name suggests cold, it is also slight sour and spicy. The Pull Pork Burger is slightly smaller than I've imagined, have heard good things about it and decided to give it a go today. It tasted exactly as it looked, it was a doughy bread with pull pork filling, the pull pork filling wasn't as moist as I hoped. The Biang Biang noodle was nice, the noodle Strips were wide and the sauces compliments the noodle well, not too salty and just the right level of spiciness for us, the only down side is that some of the noodle strips were too thick and also stuck firmly with other strips making it a super thick noodle. The service is overall good with a few exception: Firstly, the server who brought our dish to the table walked away when my wife was asking her a question Secondly, there were a lot of shouting from a female staff from the kitchen, we weren't sure if was an actual argument or she was just talking passionately, either way it was slightly awkward sitting eating and hearing it. Lastly, this place is cash only. Vegetarian options: There are no menu sections for vegetarian, however some of the dishes as vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: Can remove garlic, onion, shallots.
Yum! Such a hidden gem in burwood. I stopped eating at these type of places for a while now since I went vego, but have discovered that this place does pretty tasty vegetarian/vegan options. I highly recommend getting their biang biang noodle. Super thick and chewy, just the right texture and consistency. Their eggplant and potato capsicum was also delicious. Overall, a pleasant experience. The lady at the counter couldn't speak English very well but she tried her best to speak to me using a translator. She was very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend trying this place out, especially if you're vegetarian and missing some good Xian food!
Good food and flavours. They were able to adjust spiciness. Food served pretty promptly. The noodles are thick and wide. The lamb soup with the dough bits also really good like little bits of chewy noodles.
Had the signature pork biang biang and fried dumplings. The texture of the noodles was ok, however the dish itself could have been more flavourful wasn't salty or spicy enough for me. The dumplings had nice flavour and a nice skin. Service was decent and friendly enough so no complaints there could be some possible communication gaps but they did try their best which was good enough. We arrived around 9 so they ran out of spinach biang biang, however, that was ok as we’ve had spinach biang biang from here before and we thought there was not much difference in taste anyway in comparison to the standard biang biang.
Walked in knowing there was plenty of seats available. Staff told us to wait outside, 5 minutes past...and then 20 mins. A couple behind told us to just go in and sit as they too were frustrated. Eventually we all sat down, didn't need to look at menu as we all decided what to get to save us time and get food cooking. I understand they were busy, I saw 3 ladies work a fairly busy night, but not too busy as there were seats free. Would appreciate if someone could stay on the floor and greet customers - at least sit them down and get comfortable. I'm at the counter ordering food and the lady told me to wait another 20 mins as they were prioritising uber eats and prior customers who were complaining about service. Waited patiently and eventually ordered food that came pretty fast - which is good. Meat skewers were tiny for the price, soup was oily but the dumplings were delicious. I hope there is some kind of improvement in the future, particularly in customer service and management.
Really enjoy the food. But the service here is quite inconsistent - more staff is needed. Based on the multiple dine in visit the lack of staff is really impacting on cleanliness and presentations. The content of your new menu has less clarity than your previous menu.
In the main strip of Burwood we experienced a dinner here. It was a little confusing as to whether there was table service or not. We eventually realised that no one was coming to take our order so we placed our order at counter. The food was delicious and as with other reviews the highlight was the Biang Biang noodles. Authentic flavours and reasonably priced
Came highly recommended by my Sister in law. We all agreed the food was so tasty. Obviously a family owned business. I loved our hostess, didn’t know English and smiled and pointed to the front counter. The lady there happily took my order and suggested that I had more food ordered. Lol The mango beer was cool. Stand outs for me were the Biang Biang noodles made with spinach. I loved the stir fried eggplant, with potato and capsicum. I’ve had better pan fried pork dumplings and cold noodle salad. That said, they were nice. I’ll go back to try other dishes. Very friendly and fast service.
Soft noodles, dumplings were nice!!! Big portion. If you are looking to try handmade noodles type restaurants, try this one.
