Amazing museum with many interesting showcases of recent history relevant to Hamilton. Everything on display was very informative and maintained very well, and the space was lit very pleasantly. The museum offered small foldable chairs for visitors to bring around with them while they walked around, which is honestly a great idea that should be adopted by more museums.nnI also paid for the Six Extinctions exhibit and thoroughly enjoyed myself! For such a small space, they really packed it full of information and awesome displays. The fossil casts were pretty nice, and I loved the art and informational plaques displayed on the wall.nnThe gift shop had many lovely pieces on display as well! The staff were also very lovely and helpful. All in all, I highly recommend a visit if you have an hour or two while you're in the central area.
This place is awesome. There are a lot of things to learn from and about. Kids have a wonderful play area with many activities. They for sure will love the digging area in extinction.
Loved walking through the Waikato Museum. Great that the Riff Raff statue is out front. Really enjoyed the Lissy & Rudi exhibit. I even picked up a couple of cute kiwi bird tea towels on sale in their gift shop as gifts for family and friends.
Great, free museum in the heart of Hamilton, with a fun activity centre for the kids extra fee required and important history of colonial injustice in the area. I took 1 star off because both times we visited there was a mixture of spaces that were closed, private events, etc. that meant we couldn't really explore the whole place—despite visiting on 2 different occasions.
A great place to visit - especially with children - lots of hands on educational stuff, my 7 year old daughter loved it! I could see younger children like a 2 year old toddler having lots of fun too. Free entry with exception for some exhibitions.
