Great find in this small town. Friendly happy cheerful staff. Good selection of hot and cold food. Best roast lamb I have ever had all washed down with a montheiths black to compliment the lamb. All the meals that other dinners were enjoying all looked excellent and ample serves. 3 of our party had very large desserts on tall glasses and loved every spoonful. If ever in this part of the world again would definitely visit again.
The Best Stop on the Way from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo.nnI had the best steak I've tasted in the South Island over the past five days! The pasta was of excellent quality and came in a very generous portion. The owner is highly attentive, prioritizing customer service and ensuring client satisfaction.nnThe venue is clean, spacious, and perfect for large groups or families, with big tables and plenty of room. And let's not forget the beer—it’s the perfect complement to the steak.nnOverall, this place is a must-visit and the best stop along the route from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo. Highly recommend!
A Happening Place. That’s exactly what the Village Inn is. Anyplace which is thronged by the locals is the right place. And the locals love it. No wonder. There is an air of fun. Beer, Pool, Raffles and good pub food. Deadly combination. Stop by. You Will carry back fond memories
Don’t buy aioli from here with your fries. $6.50 for a little glass jar photo supplied of same size isn’t expensive, it’s robbery. The chef was sympathetic once we realised and mentioned he was attempting to make and bring in his own so it wasn’t so expensive. Sounds like a manager problem that nobody cares about. Just so you read that right: $6.50 for a little glass dish of aioli, it wasn’t coated in gold either if you were wondering.nnPasta special of the day was weird. Menu says: “pasta of the day, ask our staff for more info on flavours etc” cool sweet. Went to order, asked and Front of house didn’t know what the special was. He said “it’s on the board” pointed and turned to the board and all the board had was “salmon” on it. Pretty bleak on the specials board to be honest. What else?nnAt least the staff were friendly and nice.nnI wish I had read the other reviews before I’d come and I’m glad I didn’t get the blue cod as from other reviews it is a small portion, which you’d think is cheaper. Nope it’s $41!
I cannot recommend this resturant highly the staff were prompt professional and engaging.nStarters was a beautiful shared platter, mains was a beautifully cooked massive lambshank with roast vegies and served on a bed of mashed potato and chive. We left appreciative and full. Thank you village inn.
