Our recent experience at VicRoads Sunbury was nothing short of disgraceful. My 16-year-old daughter attended to apply for her learner’s permit — an important milestone — only to be refused service due to “insufficient identification.” Considering her age, it’s unreasonable to expect a young person to possess more than a birth certificate and school identification. Both are legitimate, verifiable documents, and the lack of flexibility or understanding shown was appalling.nnWhat made the experience even worse was the attitude of the staff member serving us. He was dismissive, unhelpful, and clearly disinterested in his job. Rather than providing guidance or showing any empathy toward a visibly upset young person, he barely looked at the documents before turning us away. His lack of professionalism and compassion was deeply disappointing.nnMy daughter left heartbroken, and the staff member’s indifferent expression remained unchanged — not even the slightest acknowledgment of how upsetting the situation was for her. The overall atmosphere at the Sunbury branch is cold, unwelcoming, and entirely lacking in customer service.nnThis experience has completely destroyed my trust in the Sunbury VicRoads office. I will not be returning and strongly encourage others to go to Kyneton instead, where staff at least treat people with basic respect. Sunbury VicRoads urgently needs change — both in policy and attitude.
Have my 2nd driving test today to convert my overseas licence with Nisal and Tony and I passed. They were good and friendly — the test went smoothly. Nisal if I’m not mistaken his name was also my examiner during my first test. Both of them were calm and professional, which really helped make the experience better this time. At the end of today’s test, they told me they found no faults in my driving — which shows that I actually drove well and have improved since my first attempt. stars for thisnnHowever, I want to mention an unpleasant experience I had during my first test on the 6th of October 2025 at Sunbury. I arrived around 9:20 am for my 9:30 am test. I was about to reverse park next to a car that another examiner was checking — she was examining another girl’s car at that moment. I admit my parking wasn’t perfect, but I was reversing slowly and carefully. When I got out of my car, she a lady with short pixie-cut grey hair made a comment about how I should have looked at her or someone while parking. I politely replied, “okay, thank you, I’m sorry.” Unexpectedly, she then shouted “BAD DRIVING!” at me in a loud and intimidating way. She’s being rude and unprofessional! I don’t know if she’s just being racist towards me.nnThis happened right before my test and made me feel embarrassed, nervous, and unsettled. I believe her reaction was unprofessional, especially since she was not my assigned examiner. It affected my confidence going into the test, which I ultimately failed. After that test, Nisal told me that my driving was actually good, but I made some mistakes and lacked confidence — which I truly believe was influenced by that incident.nnI hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future drivers, because not everyone can handle that kind of behaviour calmly — especially in such a stressful moment.nnI would like to make an official report but I don’t have any time to go back to vicroads sunbury and also I already called the call center, they told me to report it to the office.nSo here I am writing a long review..nnThanks
Rude staff, in particular the lady with shoulder length blonde hair wearing glasses.nnSeriously needs some re-training in customer service, or better yet, find another job that doesn't involve interacting with people. But reading all the other reviews that doesn't seem likely. It actually looks like it's a prerequisite to be rude or have no people skills to work there.nnOne star is one star too many
we had an appointment @0830 and we reached at 0838 it took us 2 minutes to take ticket from the machine as we were talking to the lady working @vicroads about what to choose from the options available and we were called @the counter @0842 and were told we were more than 10 minutes late so we would have to cancel the appointmentnbecause the person who we had appointment with had already left and is on the roadsni do not understand that it’s written on the entrance of vicroads itself that if you are more than 10 mins late your appointment will be cancelled or transferred however with all that requirements including taking ticket from the machine and everything we were only 11 mins late and i wonder the instructor has already left in that one minute and is on the roads ???nwe both took day off from work we travelled 45 mins for our appointmentnalso the staff we were interacting with was so rude and not at all understandingni would not recommend anyone to get your appointment booked at sunbury
I would like to sincerely express my gratitude for the exceptional experience I had with the VicRoads driving examiner at the Sunbury location, whose name is Troy. From the very beginning of the test, Troy demonstrated a high level of professionalism, providing clear, concise, and easy-to-follow instructions that greatly contributed to creating a calm and supportive environment. Although I initially felt quite nervous as I began the driving assessment, Troy’s composed demeanor and reassuring tone helped me to stay focused and gradually gain confidence throughout the drive. Thanks to his guidance and calm presence, I was ultimately able to pass my driving test, and I am truly thankful for his role in making the experience both positive and memorable.
