would be good if you actually closed at the time it says. went to the deli section at the back at 4.46pm and the ladies working refused to slice me ham and prosciutto. when i asked what time do they close she said now. when i asked what time is now she said 5pm but we were quite so we finished earlier. the slicer machine was still there,the meats were still there, and two ladies still there..... that obviously didn't want to be there. thanks for that
Great prices and quality of fruit and veg is fine if you pick properly and use w/in relevant timeframe. Huge variety of dry goods and specials are good too. I have never used the deli or butcher.
Fantastic selection. Variety types of deli meats, dairy products and vegetables. Prices are reasonable. Love this store to buy my vegetables.
Vic fields fruit & veg shop has to be the best kept secret in Melbourne. The quality of their produce is above & beyond anything I have tasted . If your fan of Seinfeld- the episode where Kramer raves to Jerry about this cantaloupe tasting “ like my tastes buds are having a party “ Jerry isn’t interested. Then George arrives , he takes a piece & says “ this like a burst energy “ & he takes a handful of pieces , saying this is unbelievable “ well that same experience happened to me while making a fruit salad. The fruit is super fresh & taste amazing Hamish is the owner & manager & I would call him my friend. His aim is to make his customers happy. And say hello to the wonderfully talented Sam who works out the back- she looks like a rock star! Easily 5
This was a great place under the previous owner. The quality of produce is poor. Every time I've purchased avocados, they been brown and mushy on the inside .Last week the apples, nectarines and oranges went bad in the refrigerator within 5 days. Never going here again!
Great prices on fruit and vegetables. Cheaper than most markets and often only thirty to fifty percent of supermarket prices.. Like all fresh produce stores you need to be careful when you select you purchases, but very happy with the freshness overall. Also has a deli and general grocery items. The staff are friendly and some even go to the trouble of packing bags properly, putting some items aside and then packing hard items before putting the light and delicate on top. Impressed. The butchers and fish shop at the same location are separate businesses, but also recommended.
The staff have always been friendly and produce cheap but today I went in and all 4 staff members weren't wearing masks or masks properly. I had to ask the girl at the counter to put hers on her nose before serving me. Please respect our health and safety. Its not too much to ask
Unfortunately the quality of the veggies and fruit seems to have gone down recently. It might be due to new management. In particular I found the melons not being particularly sweet, peaches dry and I did not buy any of the broccoli on display as they appeared quite old. Otherwise still has a wide selection of items
We are locals who have been shopping in Sunshine for 6 years. The fruit and vegetables are very poor quality. I'd say they are 2nd or 3rd grade quality. example: Bought a 5kg sack of potatoes, the ones on the inside were all rotten. Fish and seafood is definitely not fresh. I bought muscles there and were told they were very fresh. When I got home and opened the wrapping, they stunk and only 3 out of the whole bag sunk in a pot of water. Which meant the whole bag was rotten. Girls at the butcher are extremely rude. I've walked away from them when they were rude, but decided to try them again after 6 months and was met with exactly the same attitude. My neighbours also mentioned the same problems with quality and customer service, which didn't surprise me! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.
Customer service has always been spot on the few times I've visited. That's the only positive I can vouch for though. They seem to have some issues with quality control and insects/bugs in the fresh produce. I think I'll stick to the packaged stuff if I'm shopping here again.
