3rd of Jan. arrived this morning with out daughter who has what we believe has a nasty cold. Which has been ongoing for about a week with multiple fevers and yesterday couldn’t hold food down. Did covid test So decided she needed to be checked. Today we arrived at 10am, a hour later were seen by a nurse. Then told to come back at 3pm due to lack of doctors on today. We arrived back at 245pm and its now 410 and still haven’t been seen. It’s ridiculous how this is called urgent care! I think most people would be happy to pay a high rate if they got to be seen quick. Can you guys please sort your wait times! I think up to two hours is reasonable but certainly not 6 hours and counting!
My absolute respect and thanks goes to everyone working there. I have visited Urgent Care Pukekohe a few times in the last 8 years and despite being busy and possibly understaffed, every person that I had an interaction with has been respectful, pleasant and caring. Today, I went in with a bad cough and waiting was up to 2 hrs. People moan about having to wait but I would hate to think how long and hard their day had been. All the way from front desk to nurses and doctors - they were still smiling and doing their utmost best to help us. Massive thank you to everyone at Pukekohe Urgent Care for your professionalism and compassion. Your service does not go unnoticed!
On the Saturday 14th of August this year, I went to the Urgent Care facility as I was having difficulty breathing, thought it might be Covid but it wasn't. I had a long wait but that's okay I know they are very busy there. When I saw the doctor he said I had a heart murmur and I needed to have a check up with my regular doctor. He wanted to do an x-ray to check my lungs. I came back Sunday morning, didn't wait long, had the x-ray and the same doctor showed me the results, I had some liquid in one of my lungs. He prescribed some medication and we left. I had no problem with the doctor and the service I received there. However, the HUGE problem was that later that day Sunday I became very distressed as my breathing got worse and worse. I asked my partner to call an ambulance, but he said it would be faster to take me to the Urgent Care as we were 10 minutes away. We got there around 6pm and the place was closed!!! On the door it said open 8am-8pm, 7 days. My partner was beside himself and was banging on the doors and shouting but there was no-one there. He called the emergency number and the operator said go to Franklin Urgent Care they are the closest, and they were shocked to hear that it was closed. An ambulance from Papakura was sent and we had to wait around 40 minutes for it to get there. When they arrived, I blacked out and was in a coma for five days. I was also on life support, my heart valve had collapsed. I don't know how long I could have lasted before the ambulance arrived, it may have only been minutes and then I would have died. When you say you are open THEN BE OPEN!!! Ironically three days later someone from the clinic rang and left a message on my mobile saying that from the blood test I was in cardiac arrest and should go to the hospital immediately - I had just had my surgery - bit late I feel!! Thank you to the Papakura St Johns Ambulance paramedics for saving my life.
If I could rate 0 stars , I would. Waited 2 hours for a dressing change for stitches on my hand. Just for a nurse to hand me a handful of bandages and tell me to do it at home. Quoting "you will have to wait even longer to be seen". Why couldn't you just hand me some bandages and tell me to leave when I first walked in. Receptionist even said "it shouldn't be that long to see a nurse". Absolutely hopeless.
Visited on 03/01, it was a busy day and a long wait. In spite of that I was kept informed on wait times for a nurse and a doctor. The care I received was professional and caring. They were affected by staff shortages, it happens. The staff are doing a great job! thanks :
I got an injury in my eyes accidently and requested to see the doctor but was told that doctor won't see you today because of 16 patients and they will close in two hrs. Even though I requested to wait till it closes but still she said you can come tomorrow advising saying it's just a trauma. I don't think that from now onwards clients need to see the doctor because the advice is so free and you can obtain from the receptionist. I wouldn't give any star shame on our system.Real nz
Visiting pukekohe to see family when my daughter suddenly started screaming in pain abdominal. Thought we'd get her assessed here rather than take her straight to starship in case we did not need to. Triaged quickly by nurse who then went to discuss with Dr. Came back and said because we'd already medicated her with OTC pain meds there was nothing more they could do and to go straight to starship. Dr didn't even come to palpate her abdomen to rule out anything that may warrant an ambulance. So off we went for a 40 minute drive to starship with my daughter screaming and vomiting the whole way. I would've felt better if the dr on duty had at least examined her abdomen to rule out a rupture
Amazing service from ALL staff. They were VERY busy on Boxing Day, BUT the wait time is NOT long considering the extended wait times at other after hour A&E clinics & hospitals. The staff were wonderfully empathetic, respectful & caring despite working in very difficult circumstances where a VERY small, vocal number of patients seemed to have highly unrealistic expectstions from them. I broke my elbow Xmas Day & attended Boxing Day. Dr. Kirin Tan showed amazing skill, knowledge & care in reading the X-RAYS picking up major issues. He diligently followed up with the Orthopaedic Surgical Registar, & followed this advice completely. Ultimately, through his real care, knowledge & diligence, he ensured a CT Scan was carried out, resulting in surgery being required for an open reduction and internal fixation of the elbow fractures & Radial Head Replacement. From what we viewed on repeat attendances to the clinic, the clinic triages patients & has a senior nurse assess each patient very promptly, sending those requiring Xray there promptly. Definitely the overall comments from the LARGE majority we heard by those waiting was the thankfulness to have such an outstanding, professional service for the Franklin / Pukekohe area. The service was totally outstanding with exceptional attitudes from every staff member. Thank you Urgent Care A&E Franklin, Mercy Radiology, & Dr. Kirin Tan, Plaster Nurse Lisa Day, & Triage Nurse Courtney Bowen. We have already been advising friends & family to attend Urgent Care A&E Franklin.
Rude and unhelpful, took my 1 year old daughter who is quite unwell and was made to wait in the hot car for 3 hours before being seen by a nurse then was told to wait in a small room full of really sick people to wait even longer for the doctor. How can you expect a 1 year old to wait that long and the staff that we talked to about the wait were very rude and unhelpful.
This is urgent care for my very unwell toddler..told by reception yesterday there was 1 doctor on so would be a 4 hour wait to see the doctor. There were 3 nurses on and I was 9th in the queue so to wait for a nurse to call and go from there. 2 hours later I get a phone call to ask a few questions and then to continue to wait in my car until I get another call to come inside, I am now 6th in the queue. An hour later with an almost inconsolable child I could not wait any longer so called to let them know I was leaving. An hour later the nurse calls me back and suggests to return later or in the morning Arriving around half an hour after opening today, there was already at least a 4 hour wait time and 30 people in the queue. Absolutely not good enough
