I went in at about 4pm and got 4x tempura prawns and rice the lady made me a little pack, as they had run out of the sushi, which was lovely. However, the prawns were literally inedible. I don't know if it was because they had been sitting all day or if they were over cooked but there was no prawn meat at all, the texture was hard and chewy like the prawn tail the whole way up. These were intended for my son, who is 2, for an early dinner and he could not chew through the texture so these just got put in the bin. Total waste of money. First time trying this sushi shop and will definitely not be going back sadly
Sometimes they have a large selection, best to go earlier as the selection becomes very few when it gets to end of day. Yummy food, sometimes they have the $1 sushi promo which is pretty cool! Service: 3/5 Food Quality: 3/5 Food Quantity: 3/5 Presentation: 3/5 Environment: 3/5 Price per person: $20
Ordered from uber eats and do not recommend ordering from here, food doesn't even taste as it should, found a piece of hair in my food I would have Council re-grading this place!
My partner and I ordered from this restaurant for the first time using uber eats. I ordered a Teriyaki bento box with a coconut milk tea with bubbles and my partner ordered a beef bolgogi udon and original milk tea with bubbles. We also recieved free salmon sushi rolls for our order over $20. First with the ok, the sushi rolls and the udon were decent, but nothing special. The rest however was terrible. The Teriyaki was not even Teriyaki, it was some kind of weird, lumpy/floury sauce that tasted more like satay. The sushi that came with it also included a bitter tasting raw sushi, which was concerning and the chicken one was very very dry. The milk tea was weak in flavour and the bubble pearls were tasteless, not chewy and just fell apart like cardboard balls. Usually I would not mind, but this food had so many just weird and unacceptable issues that I felt it important to share my experience. It may have been because it was close to closing time, but this should not be an excuse.
The male staff member behind the counter ripped me off. I don't like dishonesty. Double check the price before you pay especially if you stack your sushi pieces. Hygiene questionable as I overheard somebody talking to the owner of this shop about bad smell coming from the back somewhere. 16/06/2022: still ripping people off. This time it's an asian woman behind the counter. Overcharged me 70c. Not a huge sum so couldnt be bothered to go back. But it all adds up for each visit & for each customer overcharged each day. Goodbye Umiya Sushi.
It was very good, actually. Our first time here and sushi seemed a good option at the time. There was plenty of variety on display, both hot and cold items, all priced clearly inexpensive too, so we indulged. There are vegetarian items but I'm not sure about vegan, but the quality was very high in everything we had. Possibly one of the better eateries in the Royal Oak mall.
have eaten here before and thoroughly enjoyed it but i just ordered from there today on uber eats and the chicken katsu tasted like it was smothered in bbq sauce ! the tempura shrimp tasted like the ones you can buy frozen at the supermarket. would not recommend
The Tuna Mayo Avo sushi was pretty grim, would steer clear of it. The rice both super mushy and soggy and also parts of it are undercooked and taste raw / crunchy. Will not be going back.
We ordered the sushi family combo with 20 pieces. The quality of the ingredients used was astounding and the size of the pieces was so generous too. We absolutely loved it! Delicious! Thank you
