Amazing food. Went there to have our late lunch. Place was quite busy. Was welcomed by staff and taken to our tables. We saw one YouTube video so thought we should give it a try. Menu was big but very less options for only chicken eater. Not a fan of pork or beef or seafood. But we still managed to fix few dishes on the menu. Price was bit on higher side but I guess it is everywhere now. Food was overall good love their chilli paste. Chicken was bit sweeter but that’s how our taste buds are. Portion was was good enough for 2 people. Staff was good and helpful. Will visit again
Really wanted to try this place for a long time, heard lots of great things. I think a really good word to describe the whole meal is FRESH. All the ingredients tasted really fresh and high quality. I’ve had slightly better bun bo hue broth at other places but the ingredients were top tier. I love that they provide fresh chillies too! Spring rolls were good, really crispy and of course tasted so fresh. The price for the spring rolls did seem expensive at first but they’re much longer than similar spring rolls I’ve had at other places. And service was very quick even though the restaurant was mostly full!
I am not going to lie - I was motivated to visit 'Try it out' because I was told a Robot would deliver our food. The Robot was there, but it did not move durung our visit. However, the food made it all worthwhile - the crispy wontons were probably the best we've eaten and our mains were both delicous. The ingredients were tasty and fresh. 'Try it out' you won't be disappointed..
First sip of the Pho and we knew this place was going to be good. All of the memories of my experience in Ho Chi Minh came flooding back with each bite I took of the Bánh xèo, we also ordered the Lemongrass Chicken Salad and the chicken was so moist and flavoursome, don’t even get me started on the dressing that came with both the Bánh xèo and salad. Highly recommend coming here if you want to taste the flavours of Vietnam again or if you want to try it out for the first time. Pun intended ;
Last month in Australia I watched a video of this restaurant on Munchies “How a 50 year old pho recipe ended up in New Zealand” I thought I’ll go there, support them & try it out. Being a lover of Vietnamese cuisine & having a huge amount of friends in the Vietnamese community from Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane it’s disappointing that I would rate “Try it out” as a 1 star for overall experience. We were so looking forward in trying out this restaurant but we now know it’s not worth it. On the 06/06/22 My husband & I walked in & it wasn’t busy. We had waited for someone to show us a table. Finally we were served. We ordered two Pho beef balls soup which cost $19 each & two drinks coconut drink $8.00 & soda egg drink $8.50 total $54.50 but we were charged $62.70 They failed to mention that there is a 15% surcharge on a public holiday they also failed to mention that they don’t charge 15% surcharge for some regulars like my friend & her family. It’s sad that they made their food look outstanding on camera for YouTube but to an average everyday person the food they served out was just blah & ridiculously expensive. We didn’t get any bean sprouts, lemon or the usual garnish on a Pho rice noodle soup, the soup size was a dismal small size for $19. Also at the end when I had to pay they had separate piles on who they would charge the 15% & not. They couldn’t even find my receipt. Next time I come back to Auckland I’ll just stick to going to Vietnam Cafe across the road. I regret coming to see “Try it Out” might as well “not have tried it out.” Not worth the travel from Australia to Otahuhu ha!
Had grilled pork vietnamese noodle salad would of liked more noodle as didnt expect it to have alot of fancy lettuce & would of been better to have normal shredded lettce for the price you pay thats expensive. Also peanut crushed was too chunky Too much ice with vietnamese coffee Could of done with a refill didnt get money's worth for coffee
Vietnamese food that’s always delicious. Been coming here for years and never disappointed
everytime im driving out of or in to auckland, gonna make a stop at otahuhu for try it out. pho, banh mi, spicy noodles, rice plates, egg crepe, viet coffee all top tier. best vietnamese so far in auckland
Heard of this place from a VICE video, ended up going quite late on a Sunday night just over an hour before closing. Not a ton of people and the staff had started cleaning up but we were still able to order and eat. And yeah just as other people have said and as people have seen in the VICE video this places offers some amazing Vietnamese food. I had the pho with rare beef and it was really really good. Tasted fresh, very flavourful and fragrant, exactly what you expect out of great Vietnamese food. If your in the area or even if your not it's definitely worth it to Try it out.
Delicious. Recommend the rare beef and tendon pho, banh mi original, and hui tieu. I’m gutted we didn’t see the fry bread that would have topped it off. The banh mi bread is perfect and tastes as good as those we’ve had in Vietnam. Just wish they had all the herbs you get in Vietnam.
