Champ Canteen

Came here for lunch with a friend. Great looking cabinet food and the chicken baguette that I had was delicious. It has a very clean outline with a stunning blue accent scattered throughout, reflected in the blue seat cushion, the outdoor wall, and the blue rimmed enamel plates and mugs. We spent a good 2 hours here and we never quite felt rushed to leave - it did get quiet in the afternoon and the doors were shut so we did decide to head off elsewhere. The only downside was that the coffee tasted slightly sour - I am not sure what was going on there, and the waters could have been replenished during our time there.

Great coffee! The muesli bowl is delicious and the spaghetti & sausage toastie is quite a tasty, premium re-invention of the Kiwi childhood classic. The prawn Benedict is an interesting concept but the shrimp hollandaise lacks punchy flavour. The croissant it comes with has a delightful texture though.

Coffee is great and food is not bad but a little expensive. Service is great too - nice place to catch up with friends over a brunch.

I stumbled upon Champ one early morning on my way to work. The coffee was amazing and the breakfast superb! The friendly service and chill but edgy music was what made me go back.

A real creative menu, great service and tasty food! The place had a really clean feel, and didn't seem crowded even when more people came in. As well as the Rocket coffee, there were so many things I want to come back and try. My burger was a hit - hand made patty in a brioche bun with flavour galore, and my wife's prawn and corn toasty was a winner too! Get down here soon people

Had extremely high expectations of this place having loved Rad cafe in Mount eden. I wasn't disappointed. I had the soft shell crab and my sister had the chicken soba noodles and they left us wanting to try every other dish on the menu. Awesome service and great coffee as well.

Cute cafe with a friendly just-like-home feel. Perfect coffee and you must try the cheese Toasties. Under new ownership tho so hopefully they keep up the good quality!

The best Prawn Benedict ever! Recommended ordering with their vanilla, banana and peanut butter shake. Excellent service every single time!
