Terrible service. I would be disgusted if I had that Manager at my restaurant/cafe. The owner should seriously reconsider rehiring someone with proper personable skills

Service has definitely gone downhill since the previous owners and the food is now very average. Juices are still good but don’t get a toastie- they use plastic cheese.

Worst service I’ve experienced at a Melbourne cafe... ever... Short version: Coffee took 30 minutes, food took 60 mins. Staff had no idea what was going on and we had to get our own menus, cutlery and then after half an hour past ordering our food we were informed the kitchen had run out of haloumi. Asking if we could switch it to a different ingredient we were told they ran out of all the other ingredients too and had to re-order again. Long version: We arrived and found there were a few empty tables inside and one larger share table outside, still covered in dirty plates and glasses. It was clear there was no waiting list at this time so we sat down. After ten minutes a waiter came out to clear the table. I asked her what the table next to us was eating and before she could answer another waiter interrupted and informed me the table I was sitting at was suddenly booked... I asked by whom and when. He said there was a table inside waiting for them to clear the one outside that we were sitting at. I mentioned we were seated for over 10 minutes already, asking how many people were in the group inside. ‘There’s three’. I point to the six empty seats at our table and offered to share the table - it was very long and able to accomodate everyone with a lot of privacy and room. Unhappy about it all, the waiter went back to offer the table as a share table. They declined. We then ordered. Thirty minutes later the waiter comes out and informs us the haloumi for my friend’s order has run out. She asks if it’s possible to have feta cheese instead. Upon returning from the kitchen the waiter tells us the chef has run out of all the other ingredients for that dish too... She orders another meal. I order a coffee. Thirty minutes later the coffee arrives. By this time half the cafe has left and all tables outside are empty - it’s not busy at all. Another fifteen minutes elapsed and we ask where the food is. ‘The chef is working on it now won’t be long.’ Another fifteen... we ask a different waiter ‘two to three minutes’. Another ten minutes. I go inside to ask. Then after five minutes of excuses ‘We’re busy etc etc’ the food arrives. Served to our table. No cutlery. No one comes back out. I go in again. Get the cutlery. The food was good. The coffee ok. But we’ll never go back there again and hope no one else does unless they are happy to have poor service and long wait times. If they had started the interaction with ‘We are really busy today and the wait for coffee is 30 mins and food is minimum 60 mins would you still like to order?’ we would have had our expectations managed and not be phased by what transpired as much...
