Went here for catch up with mates mid week. Good place. A bit too loud if you want something intimate. Pulled lamb was amazing and worth each bite. Pork Tacos were great as well, decent size for what they are. Other stuff mates ordered was good as well. Would come back here again.
Came here during their happy hour for an early dinner, between 4 and 6pm. $5 beer, wine or mini tacos. Mini tacos did not include the octopus, fish or special mushroom, so we ordered the octopus at full price. When they all came out I couldn't really tell the difference in sizes. Tacos were delicious and cheap at that price.
Gluten free chicken wings were to die for, I wish I had just ordered all plates of those. Even my non-GF partner thought they were just amazing wings in general. Tacos were good and had delicious, interesting and unique flavours, only parts the tortillas were a little to tough to chew. Overall though, good meal. Just make sure you have a booking, they're very popular with good reason.
Great dishes though a bit salty, particularly the guac. Great service and good drinks. Cool vibe.
Good margaritas? Check. Excellent food? esp. the chilaquiles Check. Fancy ghostbusters neon wall art that I covet? Check. Except for the constant urging to finish and leave Touche Hombre is a great place to fulfil your Mexican crave. Just don't plan to chill for too long undisturbed. 02/09/19 - changing the rating to 3 - same venue, less edgy ceilings and a changed menu. Some places excite with their changed menus but the absence of the crowd pleasing cauliflower queso was our first disappointment of the night. Chilaquiles have their same excellent taste but the entree portion has been made cheaper, or so it seems, a reduced portion has also been deprived of the usual guac/salsa sides. We tasted 3 of the excellent tacos on offer - cauliflower, lamb and pork and they were all equally great except none came with the usual sides - they've all been moved to chargeable extras. Operational margin related changes aside, its still a great place to get your Mex fix.
Having been here a few times friend's choice, the experience Is consistent - good food, average service, casual atmosphere with a lively vibe. Today we perched by the front window and waited, then waited some more for a printing issue to be resolved in the kitchen. Ravenous, we attacked the tacos when they arrived. The fish tacos were highlighted with pineapple, coriander, toasted coconut and jalapenos giving them a kick. My friend enjoyed her cauliflower, broccoli and kale tacos, which also had some chilli to add interest. The serves were quite small, which was countered by a generous bowl of chilaquiles much like nachos. Spoilt for choice by Melbourne's diverse culinary offerings, my ratings reflect this relativity. Regardless, it's still a popular spot for a bite and a drink when one wants to enjoy Mexican influences.
Second visit really love the food, the Lamb ribs are the best. Ordered a non alcohol drink that they had run out of, so the bartender made a custom drink which was just beautiful. Staff cant do enough for you and prices are very reasonable. Thanks Guys
Go here. Great if you're snacky or starving. Get the elates. Gluten free and vegan options if that's your jam, but definitely try the chicken taco if you're not. Friendly, prompt service. Beer on tap. Nerdy references and Easter eggs throughout
This place is buzzing and it ain't just the antique style light bulbs! Book a table or pull up a barstool in the restaurant styled like an old cantina straight out of a movie, neon signs, graffiti and all. Touché Hombre nails their modern take on Mexican food and cocktails. The menu leans towards share plates with friends but can just as easily be a meal for one. Seriously good stuff!
Walked in before the lunch rush and ordered micheladas, chilaquiles and beef tacos to share between. The chilaquiles was huge, and very filling in its own. The beef tacos were very well cooked, tender and full of flavour with a crunchy salad base in corn tortillas. The drinks were very tasty and refreshing especially on a hot day. Not the cheapest meal in the area but very easy to recommend. Friendly and helpful staff, small collection of hot sauces on each table with tasty food and drink.
