Reading some of the reviews here, you'd think that all of Melbourne's speaker repair places are run by curmudgeons who are good at their job but terrible at service and take forever to fix things. Maybe I just picked a good day, but Total Recoil were great. Excellent job in getting my speakers repaired, pleasant to deal with and very accommodating. I can definitely recommend them.

Boyd has done a truly magnificent upgrade to my speakers, a work of art. The sound that comes out of these beauties is just magic. I don’t think there’s anyone in Melbourne who can do what he does. I will recommend him to anyone wholeheartedly.

Terrible service. I provided an amp to fix an earthing issue, you know the earth connected to the phono jack. It was supposed to take a few days but didn't. They didn't return my calls and when I got through them to pick it up, it wasn't ready (this was 3 weeks later). When they did call a few days later to say it was ready and it would cost $50, I turned and insisted they show me that it had been fixed i.e. by plugging it in to a turntable, only to discover it had not been fixed. They then said ok I could have the amp back free of charge but that they would not fix it for less than $150. I declined.

The owner went above and beyond to help repair my speakers. Gave me advice on how to fix up the casings by myself (free of charge). Knew exactly what he was doing, truly an expert.

Took in my sub - thought the speaker was blown. Had the issue diagnosed as a faulty amplifier. Unfortunately it couldn't be fixed as it was in pretty bad shape - bad corrosion, blown caps, etc. Regardless I replaced the amplifier and working fine now. Thanks!
