Sluice Gates Torrens Weir were opened for almost 100 years since 1929 on the Torrens River. It makes Torrens River form a beautiful lake between Adelaide and North Adelaide. The Torrens Weir is also a pedestrian bridge over the river. Standing on the dam and watching the wide and silence water, there are tall buildings and lush grass on both sides of the bank, and the scenery is pleasant.
Torrens Weir was built in 1881 to provide a regular water supply and is now a State Heritage Site. The algae is a normal occurance in summer and is controlled by releasing fresh water from the Kangaroo Creek Reservoir.  This was done in December 2021.
This is a beautiful place to visit. Has 2hrs free parking close by. There are 2 cafes nearby. The water has a bad smell but its bearable.
Full of green slime. The five long necked tortoises that hang out at the bottom of the weir have disappeared, pushed out by the poor management of the Adelaide City Council and their inability to turn on the aerators installed in the Torrens Lake. A disgrace to every South Australian and visitor.
Nice spot to view the city. Great for a walk.
Very good to approach Par 3 Cafe for a toilet stop or a game of golf
Acting like a bridge for passing over the river, this dam is really cool and one of the first concrete structures built in SA.
Historical place of civil engineering infrastructure in Adelaide. Nice spot to view from the Elder Park and Riverside Precinct
In fact, this place is not a traditional scenic spot, but a sluice with a path to go through. It's not suitable for you to just come here to enjoy the beautiful scenery. However, for people living in CT, it is a good place for walking after dinner. The light will be very dark at night. Please pay attention to your safety. The only reason for me to give this place five stars is that this small bridge It has a special significance for me. A few years ago, I often stood on this bridge when I was depressed, thinking about some sad things. But it is also the bridge, which let me meet the most precious thing in my life, my love. I express my love here with my other half, and we have a good relationship until today. I hope you can also harvest this comment Your own luck, occasionally come here for a walk, maybe you can meet another lonely heart, hope it can always stand in the middle of the river, take away everyone's loneliness
Better if you run laps through it. Do 3x circuits starting from the Morphett Street bridge, passing through here and then back again along the other side of the river. After that, hit the showers. Oh, and preferably do it while listening to 'Weird Science' by Oingo Boingo. You could also play 'Weir' by Killing Heidi if you want to keep things oz rock. EDIT: Montefiore Rd Bridge. Change cross-over point to suit fitness, time available
