Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre (TRAC) has been opened since September 2010 and residents are enjoying all of the fantastic, modern facilities that are amongst the best in Australia. The beautiful new Centre includes fully accessible swimming pools and fun children’s play features; a café and function areas; a state-of-the-art health club and stunning artworks throughout.

Proudly operated by YMCA Whittlesea on behalf of the City of Whittlesea, TRAC is now the premier aquatics and firness facility in the northern suburbs.

Management at TRAC reserve the right to remove any false, slanderous or threatening posts on the TRAC Facebook page and will refer any such posts to both Facebook and Victoria Police. This is in acknowledgement of the rights of our patrons and is done without any bias or misleading intent.

"TRAC is the premier indoor swimming pool and gym in the City of Whittlesea servicing Thomastown, Lalor, Epping, Mill Park, South Morang, Campbellfield, Bundoora, Reservoir and Fawkner.A large, inclusive facility, TRAC offers an indoor 25 metre lap pool, warm water pool, learn to swim pool, toddlers pool with a waterslide, sauna, steam room, spa, gym, group exercise, multi-purpose sports court, occasional childcare and function room hire. We also have an outdoor water park with great activities for the kids complete with BBQ facilities."

I have been attending TRAC for over 10 years, and while my children have participated in swimming lessons over the years, unfortunately the swim school was not always a positive experience. The department often felt poorly run, which eventually led us to leave.nnLast year, I decided to re-enrol my son, hoping things had improved, but sadly we encountered many of the same issues. The instructors didn’t seem to know how to work effectively with him, there was rarely staff available on the pool deck to assist families, and he wasn’t making any progress in his lessons. We eventually stopped attending classes, although we remained enrolled and continued paying weekly fees.nnThen I received a phone call from Christine, the new Aquatic Services Coordinator, asking how she could help get my son back into swimming. All I can say is—wow!nnChristine took the time to understand my son’s needs and placed him in a class that she believed would be the right fit. Since then, I have never looked back. It genuinely feels like stepping into a completely different swim school.nnEverything is so much more organised, there are always staff members on the pool floor to assist, and the swim teachers appear to be trained to a much higher standard. The difference in the overall environment and support has been incredible.nnA special thank you to Christine for her dedication and care, and to Leon, who is an absolutely amazing swimming instructor. Also can’t forget Ayda who is always on the floor to help and assist with any questions. My son now looks forward to attending his lessons every week, which is something I never thought I’d say.nnThis is honestly the best I have ever seen the swim school at TRAC, and I truly appreciate the positive changes that have been made

Lovely swimming centre with really friendly staff at the front desk. Water’s nice and warm, which makes a big difference. Great family change rooms — clean and well-kept, much better than many other pools I’ve been to. Plenty of parking and it’s peaceful during weekday lunches. Gets busy in school holidays, and lots of seniors use it for therapy and rehab. Can only recommend!

We had such a lovely experience at the swimming pool. My daughter and I enjoyed it so much, especially because the water temperature is very well maintained. The kids’ pool is perfectly warm, and even the 1.2-meter pool is nice and comfortable, which made it really enjoyable for both of us.nnThe changing rooms are spacious and clean, making everything easy and convenient. On top of that, the ladies at the reception were super friendly and welcoming, which made our visit even more pleasant.nnOverall, it’s a fantastic place for families, and we always look forward to coming back.

This place can't get more than one star for the pool shower rooms. The shower rooms are dirty and clearly not cleaned regularly or properly. Many of the hooks are either missing, broken, or hanging off the walls which makes it difficult to use properly. Two shower heads are loose and feel like they might fall on your head.nOne of the shower rooms doesn’t even have a door, which is a serious privacy concern. On top of that, at least three other shower doors are barely attached — either swinging loosely on their hinges or hanging off one side. Some doors don’t have locks at all, while others have damaged or non-functioning locks. There's a sticker on the door of the shower room designed for disabled people and its the ugliest and dirtiest sticker you could ever imagine. Seriously, can't we even have the simplest thing right in this facility.nOverall, the facilities feel neglected and poorly maintained. For a public space that people rely on for hygiene and comfort, this is simply not acceptable. I initially thought the new managemebt could fix the issues however no hope at all anymore. I just had a holiday trip to a few third world countries just on Easter holiday and used a few sauna and swimming pools there and they were by far more functional, cleaner and better than this place. I only hope my son finishes his last swimming lesson and we say bye to this facility and management.nAt the end,  I only want to thank the swimming teachers. Those whom I know at least were very nice, friendly and knowledgeable in their field. And perhaps all of them.

I changed my rating because I'm absolutely fed up with the lack of consideration or respect for others after a long day of work or hard day work. All you want to do is unwind and relax.nThomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre is a solid local spot that covers all the basics for gym-goers. It’s convenient, accessible, and generally a good place to train. That said, the facilities are starting to show their age especially the showers, which are well overdue for an upgrade.nThe sauna and steam room should be highlights, but the experience is consistently undermined by poor etiquette. The sauna, in particular, rarely reaches or maintains proper heat because people constantly leave the door open, walk in and out without closing it, or worse, stand there chatting with the door wide open. It completely defeats the purpose.nOn top of that, the noise level is frustrating. People treat it like a social space rather than a place to relax, talking nonstop without any awareness of others trying to unwind. It comes across as inconsiderate and disrespectful, and it really takes away from what should be a calming environment.nWith better maintenance and a bit more respect from patrons, this place could be excellent—but right now, those issues are hard to ignore. If you looking for a place to do that then this place is definitely not for you with the utter lack of awareness and disrespect of others. Most definitely will be looking elsewhere.
