Had a fabulous time staying in The York last week in Sydney! I stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment, which was legit my dream apartment. Super spacious, modern amenities, spotlessly clean, and a beautiful outdoor balcony with views of the harbor. The beds were so comfortable, and the natural light created a great atmosphere to work from home in. The location of this hotel can't be beaten; it was minute's away to Sydney's top attractions, including the Opera house, the bridge, darling harbor, botanical gardens, and more! Staying here made it super easy to explore Sydney every day, and it was a great retreat to come back at night. Especially loved the outdoor hot tub and having a fitness center!
I booked a two bedroom premium apartment but it certainly is not premium. The location is great and close to many Sydney attractions. The decor is dated and multiple items didn't work on arrival, the shower leaked was fixed next day the kitchen didn't have a decent sized saucepan so cooking a decent meal was impossible. The internet did not work for a couple of days and no ETA was given for when it would be fixed. The pool, sauna and gym are closed for the entire time and we were hoping to use them during our holiday. The staff are very helpful and friendly but they are struggling to keep the older rooms in a workable state. I see some people are getting refurbished rooms but we missed out and are stuck with a very dated room. I recommend they should clearly outline which rooms are updated and which are old when booking rooms. I wish I could recommend the apartments because the view and location are great but some of the rooms are tired and old. Nearby activities: Close to public transport, CBD, Bridge and restaurants. Walkability: You can walk to trams, bus stops and train stations from the apartment.
I would recommend this for so many reasons! My 5 night stay in the studio apartment exceeded my expectations - the spa, sauna, pool and gym were amazing, room had everything I could have wanted including full kitchen with all equipment, washing machine and dryer and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in . Staff were welcoming and friendly and always worked hard to find solutions to any question I had. Location was close to everything Sydney offers - suited walking, driving, light rail or ferry to travel to all the great spots. Can’t wait to come here again!
The first time staying here and very disappointed! For them claiming their 4.5 stars, it was definitely not worth the price! 1. During the first checked-in was fine, but after that, the service got worse My family and I stayed for 6 nights!. At first, we were informed that the housekeeping would clean our room everyday but there was one or two day it wasn’t being cleaned and all the amenities and tea weren’t being refilled. 2. The teabags that we requested weren’t really HYGIENIC! For a 4.5 star hotel, they gave us our teabags without any covers! This is the first time we stayed at a hotel that gave us uncovered teabags! 3. The bedsheets were pretty old as there are stains! And even blood stains on one of the bed that we don’t know if the housekeeping is even aware of it?! 4. Some of the reception were pretty unfriendly, and they have the worst service as my family and we don’t feel welcome! We paid for the room, its not like we won any giveaway! The reason we chose this hotel is because it is managed by Swiss-Belhotel, but after staying there, I am not sure if it is up to Swiss-Belhotel standards! I hope the management can review and improve on these areas!
Let the pictures tell everything. It is a terrible experience i have ever had. This is the carpet and furniture in the room i got for the first night. It’s below hotel standard with the price of 2000 AUD for 3 nights!!! I have to wait until next day so that i can change my room. And they can’t even tell at what time, so waste of time i fly from Bangkok to take vacation here. The other room that i got next day, only provide 2 towels for 6 persons!!!! With the excuse that it’s the public holiday so the dry cleaner stop operating, how come the hotel manager did not plan ahead!!!!!! With the poor quality of cleanliness, poor service, poor amenity. I hope the hotel management can be improved and care more about customers
Great location with stunning views, spacious and comfortable. The room 2603, though was very tired. Broken light in the bedroom, TV in the main room didn't work, no coffee machine just International Roast instant coffee, no bath soap but a 20c peice of soap provided on request, 1ply loo paper. Not good value for money.Rooms: 3/5
If you stay more than one night, don't rely on the room being serviced every day. It is very hit and miss. I stay every month and every single time I have to chase up house keepingvat some point. At present the hotel has a shortage of towels for some reason. I continue to be disappointed but am delighted when the expected level of service occurs without having to be chased up.
The foyer here is really good. My favourite is the help yourself coffee machine in the foyer. It has a range of coffee capsules, about 10 lots of strengths and flavours to select from. I has stayed here five times and have stayed in a range of room types from studio rooms to three bedroom two bathroom and laundry and balconies. The views from the balconies are spectacular. The rooms are quite spacious. The only thing I could possibly criticise is they do not have a restaurant on site for breakfast however they link in with the hotel next door and guests use that restaurant for breakfast. You can have breakfast included in your package as I did and get a full buffet breakfast or you can pay for your own breakfast if you prefer. The buffet breakfast was standard as with most hotel breakfasts. They’re was not a huge range to select from but all the regular items were there. There is a selection of hot foods including sausages scrambled eggs, cooked tomatoes, Baked beans. Also had a range of breads for toast. There was bercher muesli, fruit, yogurt, cheese. Only one choice of pastry and no cereals. There is a coffee machine for all types of coffee. I would recommend the muesli, yogurt and bacon. The eggs were not amazing, and some fruit was canned, which is not my favourite. The accommodation was very clean and staff were always welcoming.
Spend your money at a hotel, not this unserviced apartment Scheduled check-in at 1:30, but room not available until 4:00pm. No time to enjoy the expensive room, view & facility, not enough time for the family to get ready to attend an important function. Then proceeded to charge $50 for overnight parking twice as much as other parking on nearby, told I could not contact management, and that they couldn't help with breakfast as it isn't available on a weekend. Room curtains broken, so light in your face, towel hooks falling off, shower tray bent so unusable needing supplied shampoo on the ground, teabags exposed no container or packets. Hallways stink like sewerage while waiting for the lift. Staff didn't appear to care too much, looked as though they have had enough of customers complaining. I overheard other customers complaining about room cleanliness, dirty cutlery, cups, etc while waiting for delayed check-in.
The perfect place to stay in central Sydney. It is located a stones throw away from Wynyard station, and a short walk from Circulay Quey and the Opera House. There are also many fantastic bars and restaurants just minutes away! In terms of the hotel itself, we were given a large apartment - bedroom, bathroom kitchen and lounge area with a balcony of the most fantastic view of the city. It was clean and very well equipped. It’s ideal for both long and short stays as you can explore everything so close to the hotel or have the ability to cook and chill in the apartment if you wish. Next up is my favourite part of the hotel, the pool and gym area! I was able to do my morning exercise looking out on to the pool which was a lovely start to my day. The pool itself is large with plenty of loungers. You are able to have a dip and relax amongst the sky scrapers and although central it is very peaceful. A perfect oasis within the city. Would definitely come back and stay here next time I am in Sydney.
