You should have a squiz at this Bourke Street pop-up before it closes in March 2018. A small but excellent drinks menu on tap, of course, served by chaps who know their product. Didn't try the food, since we were in between meals, but others did and we were tempted. The plates look good and the prices are right for this part of Melbourne. Excellent advice by the fellows behind the bar. Let them be your guide. The venue is the function space on the Bourke Street side of the Windsor Hotel. A great space to watch the crowd go by through what seem to be one-way windows. Epic fun, by itself worth the price of admission -- I don't know of anywhere else where you can watch the Melbourne Zoo Higher Primates Department at play without them realising what's up. There are several single tables and one very long shared space, which isn't our bag, but wasn't an issue on the day since it wasn't crowded. YMMV. Understandably for this district, the music is aimed at more of a party crowd. It runs somewhere between ambient and disco, with the occasional bout of doof, and volume levels while not consistent run a bit high. Advice to bar / resto managers everywhere: at least half of your clients quietly loathe your music and would rather have no music at all -- and they're the ones with the money. So if you're not running a dance club then why not keep the volume down? Think on it. Value for money is . . . OK. Not great, not bad, just OK. It's Melbourne 2018 in this the year of our insect overlords. I understand that every business's standover man and unwanted silent partner the government is taking the majority of the cost of every drink, but still. It is what it is, but no budget options here. That said, I dig it. We'll be back.
Nice quiet place, good microbrewery beers and wines on tap.
Hop Nation on tap! What more could you ask for?
