The 2 stars you see are because they’ve managed to find a good fresh coconut supplier and the staff were kind.nnUnfortunately the pleasantries end there as anything cooked was well over including the noodles which turned to mush in both the dishes we ordered.nnAll food was under seasoned and the more we ate the more we were concerned...nnIf this was the standard in-front of us - what was going on in the kitchen?nnDo not come here if you enjoy food.
We were invited to a lunch a week ago here. The food was average, watery laksa and not out of the world curry or any of the other items we ordered. The steamed fish was really good though and the seafood salad. But what made it all even worse that it was boiling hot and they had no AC! How can you have a restaurant in Norwest on prime property with no AC. And the fans were like throwing you charity air.nIt made the whole lunch unbearable as it was so hot.
Unfortunately this is yet another Hills district restaurant that gas determined that the customers are a secondary consideration. We booked a table for 4 people on a Friday night out with friends, for a long overdue catch-up. I tried to make an online booking but this was rejected the next day with an email advising to call to book, which I then did. I wanted a 7pm booking but the phone line was poor and there was a slight language barrier so when the lady on the phone said 7.30pm I accepted that with a request for outdoor seating, which I followed up a couple of days later via FB Messenger as I was also enquring about their byo policy, they responded pretty quickly to both questions but the issue of seating was once again noted but not be confirmed.nnWe arrived at the restaurant just on 7pm. We were asked if we had a booking, and I advised we did and reiterated the outdoor request. There were some separate tables clear in the middle of the outdoor area that staff said they could join but it was very noisy, or there was a table for 4 that needed clearing, in a 'quieter' section, so we requested that one.nnIt took 5+ minutes to clear the table and we stood outside the restaurant whilst they did this as there was nowhere else it seemed for us to go that we wouldn't be in the way. We were seated around 7.40/45.nnWe ordered around 8pm and our entrees arrived quickly, around 8.10/8.15pm. Unfortunately the mains came very fast after we finished entrees and our table cleared, probably a bit after or around 8.30, so we really didn't have time to let that food settle, and as a result we didn't eat as much of it as we might otherwise have done. In hindsight, if we'd known how quickly we were going to be ousted we probably would have skipped the entrees completely, saved our time, money and appetites for the main course alone.nnThe food was very good. So what's disappointing is that before we'd really even finished our meal, sometime before 9pm, we were being told that the kitchen was closing, but we could still get dessert I believe...we we're still picking at our food at this time, so we weren't ready to order dessert I don't recall in which order but a short time after maybe 9.10/9.15pm we were advised they were closing and I think before that the cheque had been dropped onto the table. We were never asked if we needed anything else, staff were all in the cleanup mode before/by 9pm. The inside of the restaurant had basically cleared out by this point as it would have been uncomfortable to stay, staff were mopping floors etc and lighting had been raised, but a few people were still finishing their food outside some hadn't arrived at the restaurant till around 8.00pm. At 9.30pm we were told the restaurant was closed, there was no suggestion of finishing our drinks etc. we needed to leave. We still had wine in our glasses! We told them we were very aware that they were closing.nnNow, no will say, the restaurant's website does state their hours however before we visited we, wrongly, assumed that was kitchen hours, not closing time!nnAt $45 pp, this was not an overly expensive meal, but nor was it cheap given we byo'd wine and ordered no other drinks.nnSadly, this is yet another Hills restaurant in the castle Hill/Norwest dining precinct that has failed to deliver on service, andcwe won't be returning. We are finding that the still affordable, but in some cases more obscure/some less scenically situaed like Terminus Street, or stand-alone places around Dural, Kenthurst, Glenhaven etc, and on the other side of the equation, options like the local pubs/clubs, are coming up trumps for service, and actually offering customers a relaxed dining experience, where you're not being asked to leave by 9/9.30pm, and more importantly, not before you've finished eating!
Best local Thai restaurant. Come here as often as I come for a good lunchtime feed. Great portions, tasty food, good prices, lovely environment. Highly recommend
The food is really good and tasty, though it leans slightly towards the sweeter side—but it still tastes great. It's in a prime waterfront location with easy parking. Portion sizes are generous. Unsurprisingly, it was full, so reservations are recommended. Overall, the experience was very good and worth repeating. The chairs weren’t very comfortable, and the quality of the rice could be improved. They could also work on enhancing the service and staff attentiveness. Worth a visit—I will definitely go again. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends or family.
