Story

The Railway Club Hotel/Owens restaurant has remained one of the busiest dining rooms in Melbourne for over ten years. Its atmosphere and ambiance has stood the test of time. No pretence, just true Port Melbourne style.

You can pick your own meat from our display fridge and see it cooked to perfection at our open kitchen. With such a commanding range of cuts and sizes we never disappoint.

But it’s not just all about the steaks. We are also famous for our seafood and expansive selection of specials. Try our chef’s-own Cevapcici skinless sausages with olive tapenade, or our whole grilled 500g flounder.

Our chefs pride themselves on the quality and freshness of their selected produce. All food is made on the premises — we even make are own ice creams and desserts.

We also have an expansive wine-list, with a huge range of premium reds. Our own cellared wines and tempting reserve wine-list are perfect for any special occasion.

First time here for lunch. Place is popular and with good reason. Nice dining area, good menu and quality food. If you look at it as a pub meal it is a bit pricey, but it's definitely more like a restaurant inside a pub so it's not over the top. Would definitely recommend it and will pop in again when the opportunity arises.
This is my favourite place in Melbourne hands down. The service and quality of food is second to none. Well done to all the staff for keeping such high standards at all times. 10/10
Couldn't fault this place. We were guided through the menu by the most incredible waitress, Celine. She gave great direction and honest and informed answers to our questions. Field mushrooms as a side and the black garlic and truffle aioli were elite. Scotch fillet was the best I've had. Pricey but worth it.
We came here for NYD lunch. It was a beautiful day, too bad we couldn’t get the outdoor table. Service was amazing, as well as the food. I have to come back again to do a steak night one day.
A throw back to my country pub days. Everything solid with being a standout. Beer list very restrictive but deep menu. Good value.
I had never visited the Railway Club Hotel before and didn’t know this place is so popular. There was no table available when I arrived there and I didn’t book a reservation. I got lucky to get a table just after a few minutes waiting. Food was amazing! Steak was fresh and tender. Would love to recommend to friends and revisit again.
