Great theatre, loved the architecture, atmosphere and overall musical! So good! Wonderful experience I 100% recommend going to any play - especially Jesus Christ superstar.
This visit was to see Jesus Chris Superstar and it was magnificent. The theatre itself is a rare jewel. It has been well maintained and is a grand old dame. Easy to get to by a number of tram lines free for travel in the city and a train station Parliament Station close by. There are numerous bars and snack stands in the theatre, as well as many surrounding pubs and restaurants.
Came here to watch The Tina Turner musical. Top 3 musicals all time in my book.nnThe venue is visibly old yet charming, magical and beautiful. My biggest issue about the venue is the logistics and structure in terms of entry & exit. If you happen to be seated in the dress circle, it is a nightmare to get out during intermission and exit, as they only allow one pathway.nnFor senior citizens and elderly, I would not recommend sitting in the dress circle section as it can be a struggle going up and down the stairs. Stick to the stalls.nnThat said, a great night out in an all time classic venue.
A very nice old theatre, although the seating and leg room tend to match the old theatre expectations of course. But still if it's a good show this theatre just adds a whole lot of extra charm. The view from the Dress circle or even the Grand dress circle first 3 or so rows is quite good and at each end can save a few dollars at some shows.
Jesus christ superstar I've seen all productions from the 1st plus the movie. Whilst this o n e was good and setting well thought out, the story is told through song and a lot of the time this was distorted due to volume, which was disappointing. Excellent singers.nShow well worth seeing.
