Saw Anastasia the musical here. Amazing sound quality, very intimate seating arrangement. The decor was so lovely and intricate. Very beautiful theatre! Tip: there’s a toilet and bar on the upper level as well!
This is an absolute jewel in Melbourne's Crown of Theatres. It is spacious with comfortable seating and brilliant sound throughout the theatre. The art deco old style charm is evident throughout the theatre from the grand entrance on Collins Street, the interior bar, corridors and even comfort rooms. I've had the pleasure to see such great productions including Jersey Boys, Wicked and Bettlejuice and looking forward to many more.
Beautiful theatre, great accessibility to seats with wide aisles etc. The decor and details are beautiful and well maintained. Seats were comfortable and the views to stage were great. As it is such a open space, very few of the seats have restricted viewing conspired to Her Magesty up the road. Staff were great and polite when we arrived and got us to our seats just in time for the show to start.
I recently came to this theatre to watch Carmen. This building is gorgeous, with beautiful detailing on the ceilings, the walls, everywhere!nnThe washrooms for the ladies were easily accessible and it wasn’t a long wait some theatres only have a few cubicles available or are far away, so this was really quite a good experience.nnAlso, Carmen was done entirely in French so it was good that the theatre has subtitles on either side of the stage.
Recently, I attended the opera The Barber of Seville at the Regent Theatre. The old, luxurious theatre impressed me with its cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It felt as if I had been transported back to the time when the barber of Seville ran his salon. The music was wonderful, the performance excellent, and the orchestra outstanding. The stage design and decorations were beyond all expectations. I was intrigued by the director’s rather unusual decision — the action took place simultaneously in different rooms. The subtitles displayed in the center, left, and right screens were an excellent idea.
