The Olfactory Inn is small in stature but amply built in her offerings. Proud parents, Simon Burr and Lauren Alexander will work the stove and floor.
'The Olfactory Inn' is to find those in search of a quiet upholstered candle lit corner, or the tapas and Sparkling Wine at 5 o'clock. A table on the Verandah with a cocktail and zesty Prawn, Green Mango, Peanut Salad w Nam Jim. Perhaps a string duo plucking a jazz number or a percussionist over a Sunday lunch - cradling a Kangaroo Island Gin or crisp Eden Valley Riesling.
Complimenting the food of Simon Burr will be his insistence on bringing back some 80's flare. Both his food and the service of, holding hands with the front of house performance of Lauren Alexander, intends to be reminiscent of a time of dining at its best in Australia. Punters shan't look for foams, dots and unseasoned fare, as it won't be found.
Food to fill and impress. Not just one or the other.
Given the beautiful climate of the Fleurieu throughout the warm months, the spacious outside dining will have a feauture on the lawn and verandah at the front of the restaurant. A garden of colour to sit amongst with soft evening light for balmy dusks. Fresh, small plates to graze over wine or locally brewed Ale's and chatter. Or take a serious stance and stretch the girth through five courses with until time has stretched almost as far.
The winter with crackling open fire's, burly reds and whipping whiskey. Cozy lounge like dining rooms, crispy Brulee, Affogato's built with walnut and Frangelico ice cream. Lauren will work you through the wines and enlighten you to the mysterious world of coffee. Simon will meander his way from the kitchen, Chardonnay in hand once the last pot is scrubbed and tell you all about the makings of Goat cheese in Australia.
A vision one Coffee Roaster and a Chef conjured one day over a bottle of Torbreck 'Woodcutters' Shiraz. A place they would like to spend time in, if one was to be serious about tasting and feeling beautiful produce and the delivery mode it so crucially depends on. In a plentiful region 'The Olfactory Inn' has found its niche and aspires to bring the crafts of Simon and Lauren to the table for the satisfaction of that hungry and curious one of what food, wine and thought.
